Vehicle Description
This 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 represents the best of what it means to
be a modern classic. After all, this bold red pickup is pure muscle
with the Viper's fuel-injected V10 under the hood in an era of a
lot of talk of hybrids and electric power.
We love Dodge because they dare to be different. They were the ones
to give us the Lil Red Express in the late 1970s to deliver one of
the best muscle trucks on the market, and about a quarter century
later; they continued the tradition with the debut of the 2004 Ram
SRT-10. Given that kind of history, this inaugural-year SRT-10
seems right presented in a bold Flame Red. The hood scoop, billet
grille, special front bumper, and rear spoiler are all part of a
package to announce that a proper power pickup has arrived. And
those 22-inch wheels look like they were taken straight off a Dodge
Viper (but they are larger than the stock Viper units!) The overall
idea here is to be bold and aggressive without losing the
versatility of a true pickup. So it has an overall driver-quality
and driver-ready style. Plus, the liner paint in the bed is great
for doing chores. And a proper trailer hitch is there for
everything from the big jobs to towing your boat.
The interior does a terrific job of taking the best elements of a
sports car and a pickup truck. For example, you have the same
leather-trimmed body-hugging bucket seats you'd get in a supercar,
but there's a practical side here, too. The setup includes a handy
jump seat console in the center, and there's plenty more headroom
than you'll find in most low-slung sports cars. And just like any
good premium car or truck, this is loaded with the best features.
It includes a power driver's seat, power windows, power locks, cup
holders, dual airbags, keyless entry, keyless ignition, an overhead
console, power steering, cruise control, sliding rear glass, and
cold-blowing air conditioning. The stereo has even been upgraded to
an AM/FM/CD unit with Bluetooth and a USB input. And the Hurst
shifter and white-faced SRT gauges (including the oil temp on the
A-pillar) make for quite an engaging driver.
The Viper's 8.3-liter V10 motor is fitted into this pickup, and
keep eyes will spot nice upgrades like the Optima battery and
Volant cool air intake. It makes for a strong-running fuel-injected
powerhouse. The T56 six-speed manual transmission means you have
complete control over this V10, and you'll love the growl it gives
no matter what RPM range you're in. Power gets to the pavement via
a stout Dana 60 rear end built for quick take-offs. More than just
a pure straight-line machine, Dodge beefed up the suspension and
included a large four-wheel disc brake package with upgraded
drilled and slotted rotors. So this is one of the best handling
haulers you've ever driven.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual packet. So if
you've always wanted a Viper on a Saturday drive and a Ram for
Sunday chores, this SRT-10 is the one that does it all. Call
