1950 Packard Super 8: Luxurious and Stately
All one needs to do is listen (if you can hear it) to this Packard’s engine to know why our ‘50 Super 8 was one of America’s premier cars. Quiet running, smartly styled, elegant interior, smooth to drive: that’s what Packards were known for.
Nice from Top to Bottom
The re-spray of this Packard looks nice after a just-completed waxing/detailing.
The chrome trim (bumpers, grill, etc.) is in very nice condition, setting off the stateliness of the car.
The underside of this Packard had prior corrosion repair accomplished on inner rocker panels which appear to have been replaced.
The tan cloth interior is clean and fresh-looking, and as one would expect, the upholstery is free of rips or separations.
The painted dash and interior window trim are in very nice condition.
The gauges all appear to work properly as do the lights, wipers and horn.
The Packard in-line 8 cylinder engine for which Packard was known, starts right up and runs quietly. At the touch of the starter the engine comes to life.
The automatic transmission works smoothly.
The manual brakes on the Packard, rebuilt in 11/16, bring it to a halt without pulling from side to side.
This Packard will please any Packard fan:
All of the gauges and safety equipment work; some attention will need to be given to the radio and clock.
A Nice Example of Packard’s Popular Super 8
There is one word that can best describe this 1950 Super 8: Stately! Shiny paint, very nice chrome, nice upholstery, recent service records: all of which explain why this classic automobile was one of Packard’s popular cars.
