1970 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS 396 CONVERTIBLE, 4- SPEED, BODY-OFF
RESTORATION What a looker! This 1970 Chevelle SS Convertible looks
amazing in its original color Grotto Blue with its white accent SS
white stripes running down the hood and trunk lid. It certainly
stands out from all of the others. When I look down the sides it is
absolutely straight and has excellent fit and finish. The paint is
smooth and very glossy. Up front- the headlight bezels, grill and
bumper have been replaced. All the stainless trim is polished like
chrome. It has newer weather stripping and door seals. The white
convertible top is in excellent condition. It sits on a set of 14X7
factory SS Rally wheels with a set of Goodyear Polyglas tires for
that original look that it deserves. The undercarriage is very
clean metal. The front suspension and steering has been rebuilt and
detailed. The bottom of the motor is spotless and so is the Muncie
M21 close ratio 4- speed transmission. Some features include: power
steering, power convertible top, factory tach and gauges, factory
bucket seats & 4- speed console, front power disc brakes, new fuel
& brake lines, new gas tank & straps, new sending unit, 12-bolt
rear with 3:31 gears and F41 suspension and rear boxed in control
arms with sway bar. It also has a 2.5" dual exhaust system that
runs all the way out the back with the correct cowbell exhaust
tips. The E-brake assembly is complete and working. The underside
of this Chevelle is very impressive! The parchment interior really
pops up against the blue exterior. Everything is like new. The
seats have new upholstery and cushions. It has newer carpet and
sill plates. Looking at the dash- it is in excellent condition, it
has the optional tach and gauges which all work, heater controls
slide with ease, retro AM/FM radio and factory SS steering wheel.
All the courtesy lights work. It also offers aftermarket Chevelle
SS floor mats and front and rear seatbelts. The engine compartment
is nicely detailed with restored or new parts. It has a
period-correct 396 ci/350 hp motor that has been completely rebuilt
with a few upgrades: Pertronix HEI ignition, correct factory chrome
valve covers and Cowl Induction air cleaner. Other features
include: correct 4 barrel Quadrajet carburetor with correct fuel
line, power steering , Delco Moraine cadmium plated power brake
booster with the correct master cylinder, GM hoses with correct
tower clamps, correct spring type battery cables with the correct
battery top, 4-core radiator with correct fan shroud and clutch
fan. The engine compartment is finished in satin black. It is very
clean and tidy! The trunk is finished with a light coat of splatter
paint. It comes complete with a trunk mat, correct spare tire, jack
assembly and new weather stripping. This car is as close as you can
get to new. It drives great, looks awesome and sounds even better!
