1955 Studebaker President Speedster

The Speedster was a very limited model with only 2215 ever built.
Studebaker top-of-the-line model in 1955. Considered Studebaker's
halo model and a member of the President series. This build has
taken the Studebaker to a hole new level of excellence. Finely
crafted, turned this Speedster from an automobile to an art piece.
A high-end custom that not only is a show car but is built to be
driven.
Start the build with a full custom boxed frame to handle the power,
but has function in addition to form. To build performance is one
thing, but make it handle and ride smooth at the same time is a
true skill. Two main goals, one is to build a show stopper and two
is make a car you're not afraid to drive. For handling a Mustang II
rack and pinion front end. Custom fabricated frame with QA1
adjustable coil-overs. Stopping power comes Wilwood front disc and
rear drums.
For power, big-block vibe...bigger is always better! 1985 454ci
with a 4-bolt main and Comp "Thumper" cam! Massive Pro-Comp 272
oval port aluminum heads, fully polished Shootout high rise intake
manifold toped with a Holley 750cfm carburetor. MSD Digital 6AL
ignition moves you with "The Fire To Drive" in a digital
powerhouse! A Griffin 4-core radiator and electric fan keeps things
cool under any driving condition. Backing up the 454 is a turbo 350
with a B&M shifter, and a Ford 9 inch rear-end with 3.55
Posi-track gear and Strange Engineering axles. Flowmaster 50
mufflers with 2.5-inch exhaust gives this beauty the perfect
sound.
The custom interior starts with C3 Corvette bucket seats with
stitched "Speedster." The door panels and the original Speedster
back seat is done in the two-tone grey and tan. The center console
is not mounted and can be easily removed. The dash has a full array
of Sport-Comp II Autometer gauges that include 160 MPH speedometer,
volts, oil PSI, fuel, water and tachometer. Centerline wheels with
Hoosier 31 x 16.5 tires on rear 165/80R15 tires on Billet Specialty
front.
Wildly successful show paint done in PPG 61303 Salmon envirobase
with 33022 Sun Gold SEM Lightning FX pearl. The flames and splat
paint are metallic with drop shadows. This beauty takes on a life
of its own in the natural sunlight. The body and paint work done by
famed Vavra Auto Body in Nooksack WA.
To say this is a high-performance build is an understatement. The
Speedster is a triumph of detail and design. The Studebaker has
next-level power, and very comfortable road handling. This build
gives the driver the spirit of a champion.
