This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS is a true Super Sport, and
it really takes that designation to heart. That's why you have
upgraded big block power, four-on-the-floor, an upgraded
suspension, and a full midnight style.
This is the first year for the Chevelle/Malibu, and while we like
to admire how its clean hardtop style defined an era, this one
likes to announce that its appeal is more than just its history. It
fast-forwards the clock a few years into the muscle car period that
gave us details like the cowl hood. And the black paint knows how
to upgrade this attitude, too, with an attractive gloss. And
everything from the clean look of the big chrome bumpers to the
upgraded Boss alloys with the aggressive 18/20-inch front/rear
stance show off a boulevard-owning stance. So as you look over the
full package, you're going to recognize a coupe where the upgrades
are chiefly aimed at being a driver's car.
The interior keeps the darkness and quality feeling going. The
fundamentals like carpeting, door panels, and seats have a stock
but clean look that comes from later investments. There's plenty of
room for family and friends, because after all, an
intermediate-sized car in the 1960s still offers enviable room
compared to today's "full-size" cars. But you also instantly know
this is a driver's car. You get bucket seats up front, a grippy
steering wheel for your left hand, and your right one may never
want to leave the Hurst shifter.
The clean inner fender walls funnel your attention to the big block
at this coupe's heart. The mighty 454 cubic-inch V8 would not be
available until the next generation Chevelle, but as you can see,
it's found a nice home here in this first-year hardtop. There are
nice performance upgrades, including an Edelbrock four-barrel
carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and long tube headers feeding into
the dual exhaust. You will also appreciate worthwhile supporting
components like the aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, and an
Optima red top battery. The power and rumble of the full package
are firmly in your hands thanks to the four-speed manual
transmission. This is built to be a driver, and so you have the
right features for all-around enjoyment, like the upgraded tubular
A-arm front suspension, power steering, power brakes, front discs,
and modern sport tires.
This is a true Super Sport that upgrades its power and attitude
into the muscle car era. There are some tweaks, tuning, and details
that this coupe may need for your ideal custom classic cruiser. But
the way we see it, this is also a good way to put your personal
touch on quite a mean all-midnight machine. Call today!!!
