Vehicle Description
You know how car companies are doing Launch Editions of special
products these days... well, this 1990 Mazda Miata MX-5 feels like
what would have happened if they did one for the Miata. It's the
first model year, and this one has been treated as a true collector
car. That means one-owner, low-mileage, and it's loaded with all
the best features. And because this is both a collector and a
driver, nothing gets in the way of that purist feeling of a car
that was made for the open road.
The shape of this drop-top is iconic. The smooth style with hidden
headlights, fingertip door handles, and everything looking flush -
right down to the wraparound tail lights. So this has certainly
earned classic status, and that makes it great to find such a stock
example. Even the Crystal White paint is believed to be the factory
application. There's a driver-quality feeling to the full package,
and that feels like a compliment because a car like this is best
when it's driver-ready. The whole car is quite a complete and
vintage package, right down to the distinct factory alloys. We love
the way the black folding roof provides an attractive contrast to
the white paint. Plus, the color-matched hardtop is an accessory we
rarely see, with an attractive wraparound rear window for a
distinct coupe profile.
While both roofs look stylish, you know this one is the most fun
when open to the world. The black interior gives you the same color
appeal as the black folding roof, and the cloth upholstery means
you'll happily drive while wearing shorts. It has nice factory
features like the stereo and provisions for air conditioning (it
will need servicing to blow cold again.) The full interior is not
perfect...just very clean and attractive. So it looks good like a
proper classic, but you won't be thinking about putting on a
forensic clean suit every time you want to go for a drive. After
all, the heart of the MX-5 is about feeling the tingle for the open
road and instantly answering the call on a whim. And the way the
seats hug your body, the grip of the steering wheel, the placement
of the shifter, and the crisp dials all remind you this was
engineered to engage the driver.
The clean engine bay is another reminder of the low mileage and
good care. This 1.6-liter DOHC fuel-injected motor is a true
spiritual successor to the British sports cars that the Miata
benchmarked. And with modern fuel injection and Japanese build
quality, there's a sturdiness that adds a new degree of confidence
to this rev-happy motor. There was even a new clutch installed last
year to make sure you confidently take control of the full power
with the five-speed manual transmission. The fully independent
suspension, power steering, and four-wheel power disc brakes are
all part of a nimble enthusiast-driven package.
Complete with maintenance records, this is the one that launched
the modern driver's car. So to find a one-owner example that is
well-preserved while also being a drive-ready package is quite
irresistible - especially at this price. Call today!!!
