After providing decades of enjoyment to its original owners, this '74 Sun Bug was due for a refresh. Somewhere along the way through that process it was transformed from mere Beetle to Beast, call it the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde treatment...
Retaining its original Harvest Gold finish the Sun Bug was repainted, de-chromed, bumpers replaced with nerf bars and a custom running board fitted (along other subtle touches). The interior was upgraded with sport seats, a console with full instrument array, a Nardi wood steering wheel and a kick ass stereo. A gorgeous Haartz fabric folding top with full inner liner was installed with a matching fitted tonneau cover. Inside a snappy Hurst shifter is the one big hint at what lies behind the rear axles.
The air cooled flat four is a built, ported and polished 1914cc monster motor with an Eagle Cam, Thin Line sump, twin Dellorto 45's, electronic ignition and performance exhaust. Mated to the rebuilt transmission with a Kennedy Stage 2 clutch driving staggered wheels and tires, this Bug will flat get it!
To handle the power the suspension has been lowered on gas shocks topped with a strut brace on top and front and rear sway bars underneath. Front disc brakes are up to the task to haul it down when needed.
This custom Sun Bug presents beautifully and remains in excellent overall cosmetic and mechanical condition. Despite the big motor the Bug is completely streetable and ready for a leisurely Sunday cruise but always ready for a smack down if sufficiently provoked.
Located in Scottsdale, Arizona this Custom "Volks-Rod" is offered as is where is with a clean Arizona Title.
