Vehicle Description
What more can you say about the venerable 911 Porsche? There is
probably no other make and model that has a bigger following around
the globe. The early cars were highly desired when new for
performance, handling and simplicity. Each year, Porsche engineers
improved the 911 but the marketing department began offering
different models to ensure no market segment would be lost. By 1971
the model lineup consisted of the T, E, and S versions. The 2.2
liter T engine was the most reliable and most popular and was the
replacement for the 4 cylinder 912 model.
A little-known fact pertains to the "Targa" Top. Porsche always
produced an open-top version but thought that it would not be
allowed in the USA due to stringent DOT standards. Thus the 911
Targa was offered with a removable top panel that is stored in the
front trunk area. The little known fact is that model was named
after the Targa Florio race that by 1968, Porsche had won 7 times.
The Targa offered open-air touring with the added safety of a Roll
Bar. This package became immensely popular for Porsche.
Our example comes to us via a prominent collector here in Florida.
The historical documents show that the car was sold new at Neufeld
Porsche-Audi of San Carlos, California. The 2nd owner is said to
have stored the car for 25+ years. Purchased in 2019 from the
gentleman's estate, it was time for a complete restoration. A full
window out Paint-to-Sample job was professionally performed. At
this time a full engine rebuild took place with no expense spared.
The aforementioned collector recently had a complete interior
restoration that includes full leather with Hounds Tooth inserts
all completed to original specification. At this same time, a
complete engine rebuild took place with full documentation backing
it up.
Recent operations performed were a complete gauge restoration and
the original equipment Air Conditioning was fully serviced. The
Targa top was also refurbished at the same time as a full Cylinder
Head service along with new tires and battery. Recent service also
includes a complete rebuilt of the Zenith carburetors including all
new jets by renowned Porsche expert Justin Stokes. This wonderful
911 T Targa includes delivery documentation, records of most
service performed, Factory Owner's Booklet and original tool kit.
To see a restored 911 is such a pleasure. To drive a restored 911
is a privilege.
