Included four-wheel discs with ABS, a driver's airbag, automatic
climate control and a full complement of power accessories,
including front headrests and steering column adjustment. It shared
the 300 E's strut-and-wishbones front and multi-link rear
suspensions, as well as its four-speed automatic gearbox and
2,964-cc engine. The I-6 used an 88 x 80-mm bore and stroke and
9.2-compression to make 177 hp at 5,700 RPM and 188-lb.ft. of
torque at 4,400 RPM. These numbers may seem small today, but the
roughly 3,300-pound Coupe could reach 60 MPH in less than 8 seconds
and touch 140 MPH.
