After Maserati's proven Grand Prix competition in the 1950s, they
sought to develope and produce sporting grand touring cars, first
with the 3500GT and next the Sebring. After the success of these
models and towards the end of their production runs, Maserati
introduced an even more sporting six-cylinder grand tourer, the
Mistral. With a wheelbase even shorter than the Sebring, Maserati
blurred the distinction between pure sports car and grand tourer.
With the previous models styled by Vignale, Maserati pursued Pietro
Frua to design the Mistral. Gracefully styled with a full-width air
intake, slim bumpers and plenty of glass for the driver's
visibility, the Mistral is one of Frua's most refined and elegant
designs. The Mistral would be the last of Maserati's six-cylinder
gran touring cars and its performance, style and quality have made
it highly prized by collectors who appreciate its highly developed
attributes for the era as well as its ease of use and enjoyable
road manners.
This Mistral is in exceptional condition throughout, it has been
owned, serviced and sold by Autosport Designs, Inc. throughout the
years. It has been enjoyed on various vintage rallies and proven
itself to be quick, comfortable and reliable. This is an
opportunity to own an Italian classic cannot be restored to this
condition for its asking price. The final and most developed of
Maserati's six-cylinder GT cars, this Mistral is one of the finest
examples available and ready for immediate use and enjoyment. A
welcomed addition to any garage.
