The famed three porthole fenders are as Americana as it gets. The
1955 Buick Special had taken the American auto buyers by storm. The
timeless lines of a poplar collector car. The model has the
classics low and wide design along with the classic two-tone paint
scheme of the era. Wide-Screen Grille and chrome-capped headlamp
along with a swept back tail light.
The interior was restored with original NOS materials. Following is
how Buick described their interior.. "Each model of the SPECIAL
Series gives you big Buick spaciousness and big Buick quality.
Seats are deep and soft and wide enough for three to sit abreast in
perfect comfort. Interiors are upholstered in smart Nylon and
Cordaveen with Buick's new embossed trim styling throughout." There
is nothing like having the room and comfort of a BUICK. The stylish
dash with all the chrome has been restored to original working
order. Even the original AM radio has been restored and yes works!
A new modern radio has been added under the dash not to take away
from the classic feel.
The '55 is running a 322 nail head with a 4-barrel carb from a 1956
Roadmaster and a 700R4 4-Speed Automatic that features an overdrive
fourth gear that provides a 30 percent fuel economy improvement for
HWY cruising. This Buick can cruise at 135 MPH! Cadillac rear end
with 341 gears and a 4-Bar Link designed and installed by Leroy
Stump (NASCAR race designer). Stopping power has been greatly
improved with front disc brakes using Scare Bird parts. The 322
engine, trans and rear end has only 17000 miles. The power steering
makes driving a dream. Complete paperwork of build and parts plus
