Vehicle Description
In a showroom full of spec pro-tourers and traditional muscle cars,
there's something to be said about a lights out hot rod, like this
magazine-featured Ford Model A, that's a vision in customization.
Sure, the truck's outstanding appearance proves it can easily be
taken to a show, impressively displayed and lovingly admired. But a
roster of thoughtful upgrades means it can just as easily hit the
highway and create a grand, one-car parade! That's right, as it
sits, this Ford, with its plush interior, smooth drivetrain and
posh, retro chic body, is built to show AND enjoy. And what's
better: you can have all that show and go for much less than the
cost of building it yourself!
SEDAN STYLE, TRUCK TRICKS
The product of a 1,000-hour professional build that was completed
by Summerville, South Carolina's CMX Customs by Vinnie, this sweet
Ford is a timeless custom that's made to last! The truck's solid
Henry Ford steel manifests as a one-of-a-kind profile that marries
a modified Model A sedan cab with a custom truck bed. That
shortened, chopped and channeled metal looks especially cool under
a crisp coat of Hot Rod Black single-stage. And that satin sheen
goes great with a contrasted firewall that's decked in custom House
Of Kolor gold.
Thanks to first-rate detailing and an astute attention to detail,
this hot rod really puts the "class" in classic. At the front of
the truck, a custom frame spreader leads a billet grille and
polished Ford Twolite headlights that feature both road lamps and
turn signals. Behind those torches, a filled cowl founds clean
glass between a short visor and traditional mirrors. That tinted
greenhouse, specifically chosen for its rounded cab corners, swings
shaved doors in front of a hand-fabricated bed. And that bed,
tailored around a relocated fuel tank and a polished Winters
differential, floats ornate billet tonneau hardware opposite classy
LED taillights.
A BLUEPRINT FOR POWER
Check the engine bay and you'll find 383 cubic inches of spry Chevy
stroker that was sourced directly from the pros at Kearney,
Nebraska's BluePrint Engines! At the top of that dressed and
detailed mill, polished air cleaners drop breeze into a duo of big
Quick Fuel Technology 4-barrels that are wired with stainless
lines, a polished regulator and a polished Quick Fuel Technology
pump. Those 600cfm carbs were specially built for a 1969 Weiand
tunnel ram intake, which feeds aluminum BluePrint Engines heads
that are dressed in finned breathers and finned valve covers. Spark
is supplied by loomed MSD Street Fire wires, which milk a
points-style distributor. Billet pulleys cinch pliable V-belts
around a polished water pump, a polished AC compressor and a
polished Powermaster alternator. Spent gases pass faux lake-style
headers on their way through custom, rear-exit exhaust. Cooling
comes courtesy of a lightweight aluminum radiator, which fronts a
polished overflow and a proven pulley fan. And it all adds up to a
hearty 460 horsepower and 490 lb./ft. of tire turning torque!
TRADITION AND TECHNOLOGY
While this Ford might look traditional it is, first and foremost, a
world class street rod. That means every inch of its style rolls on
time-tested hardware that was planned, sourced and assembled to
combine the best aspects of head-turning aesthetics and modern
performance. The foundation for those great dynamics is a fully
custom chassis that's bookended by '32 Ford frame rails. At the
center of those bones, a smooth 4L60E 4-speed makes excellent use
of a quality TCI controller and a tough FTI Performance converter.
A polished and marbled Winters quick change axle spins big, 4.11
gears. That drivetrain rides a marbled 4-link rear-clip that's
finished with adjustable QA-1 coil-overs. That clip pushes an
I-beam front-half that's finished with marbled hairpins, polished
PRO Shocks and a dropped and drilled Pete & Jake's Super Bell Beam
axle. Turns come courtesy of a polished Pitman arm. Stops are
provided by polished Wilwood calipers, which employ a Wilwood
master cylinder and a Summit proportioning valve to squeeze four
drilled and slotted rotors. Polished stainless exhaust centers
polished glasspack-style mufflers in front of trick connecting rod
hangers and polished stainless tips. And at the corners of the
chassis, polished American Rebel Starbursts spin 145R15 Firestone
F-560s in front of polished American Racing Gassers that are loaded
with 31x16.00R20 Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/Rs.
SIMPLY CUSTOM
Between the doors, a custom cockpit wraps modern comfort in
perennial street rod style. Custom House Of Kolor gold ignites an
intricate dash that's centered on clean Dakota Digital VHX
telemetry and controls for brisk air conditioning. A sculpted bench
seat stretches plush Ultraleather above color-keyed California
Carpet that's garnished with metal foot pedals. A gold-tinged
ratchet shifter surfs a small Ultraleather console opposite an
LED-lit headliner. Speaking of gold, brilliant gold window frames
hide polished door handles above custom side panels that back
polished window cranks. And the driver stays connected to the road
through a polished and painted steering wheel.
You really can't ask for a cooler classic than this 1931 Ford.
Featuring an unbeatable combination of proven technology and
timeless aesthetics, it's the perfect car for any enthusiast who
wants a first class hot rod without spending two years and six
figures achieving it. So, what are you waiting for? Call, click or
