Vehicle Description
1982 Ford Bronco
The idea behind the Bronco began with Ford product manager Donald
N. Frey in the early 1960's, (who also conceived the Ford Mustang),
and engineered by Ford engineer Paul G. Axelrad, with Lee Iacocca
approving the final model for production in February 1964, after
the first clay models were built in mid-1963. Developed as an
off-road vehicle, (ORV), the Bronco was intended as a competitor
for the Jeep CJ-5, International Harvester Scout, and Toyota Land
Cruiser. Today a compact SUV in terms of size, Ford marketing shows
a very early example of promoting a civilian off-roader as a
"Sports Utility", (the two-door pickup version).
For consignment, a 1982 Ford Bronco. It's a full size version and
has the option to remove the rear top for the open air 4x4
experience. Our version in house is an XLT and has a two tone paint
job as well as a vinyl and cloth interior. SO grab your groover,
tent and canoe and let's run off to the wilds and have some outdoor
experience before global warming either floods us out, or climate
change kills all the wildlife and we have nothing to go see!

the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws

Exterior
For the 1980 redux, the large scale 4x4 now has a nice bull nose
grille which presents in some egg crate shine. The blue oval is in
the center, and a single headlight and turn signal setup below is
flanking it on either side. This truck has a chromed grille
protector added on to clear brush and whatever else away while on
the trail. Dark Brown Metallic paint is covering the hood and front
of the cab roof. A B pillar encircles the roof and this part is
painted Light Tan, (6U and 5Q). The fenders have extra flares on
the wheel wells and these are also in Light Tan. A nifty graphic is
below the front quarter badge and this is in the brown and this
color also appears on the rockers. The gaps and rust free steel are
looking good, and on the back is a brown bed topper which is
removable if you want. More pin striping and some vertical graphics
are in the delineation between the brown and tan. The bed and back
seat topper has a panoramic window on either side, and another on
the back above the tail gate. Also on back is an exterior mounted
spare tire and another shiny bumper with a trailer hitch below. On
the gate some invasive rust is seen on the central bottom. Shiny
15-inch polished wheels are on, all wrapped with 31 x 10.50R15LT
all terrain tires from the 26th week of 2020 and look as new.
Interior
A swing of the doors and we are in early 1980's heaven with
wonderful gold carpeting, all fairly clean, covering the floors and
a gold/brown headliner above. The carpeting in the bed area has
worn through. We note that the brown plastic panels on the back
sides are fairly scratched and soiled. The door panels are light
tan and have molded armrests and inserts for the door actuators. A
square faux woodgrain panel houses the window crank and a speaker
opening. Inside, a front and rear bench are in. These have white
and off white mini square pattern tuck and roll broadcloth inserts
and brown shiny vinyl bolsters. On the driver's side there are some
cracks showing the foam underneath, presumably from simple wear.
The back bench is presenting nicely with no cracks within the
inserts. Upfront, the original dash is in, and shows some cracking
and fading on the top. A carpet insert has been fashioned to cover
this damage and it is in dark gray. The dash is using square and
rectangle design, and has square gauges within a faux wood grain
dash front. Gauge windows are clear and white numbers and hashes
are seen on a black field. In the center is another faux wood
grained panel which houses the AM/FM factory radio and temp sliders
below. The remainder of the dash is molded plastic and it is in
brown. On the passengers door sill there is damage in the plastic
in the form of a hole.
Drivetrain
Underneath the hood within a gaggle of wiring and hoses shows the
correct 302ci V8 which has a single 2-barrel carb on top and a
rebuilt 4,000 miles ago C6 3-speed automatic on back. Bothaxles
weigh in at an even 3.00 ratio. Overall the bay shows some surface
rust, plenty of patina, and is unrestored.
Undercarriage
Here it shows some patina on the inside underneath surfaces and
what appears as a newer fuel tank. The frame appears to have been
sprayed with a rattle can and presents in black. For the
suspension, its radius arm and coil springs for the front, and in
back leaf springs. Power disc brakes are on front, and power drums
on back. A dual exhaust featuring Turbo Mufflers is snaking its way
from the mill to the back of the truck. We note the absenceof a
catalytic converter in the exhaust system.
Drive-Ability
This truck fired right up and ran smoothly. It had smooth
acceleration and shifting, as well as bias free panic stopping.
A well used and enjoyed vehicle whose beginnings were in Arizona up
until a few years ago. A nifty two tone paint, some snazzy wheels
and tires along with a retro 80's colorway interior and you are in
retro 4x4 mode. Climb every mountain....
