Vehicle Description
This 1948 Lincoln Continental offers the best of both worlds when
it comes to classic American luxury cars. The body and interior
remain highly original and largely unrestored. The body panels
appear to be all factory metal and have excellent fitment. The
paint appears to me mostly original, or an extremely old repaint.
It does show chips, scuffs, cracking, and some blistering on the
rear of the car, but the body panels all appear very solid and free
from major corrosion. The interior is original to include gauges,
seat upholstery, carpet, headliner door panels, etc. It is old, but
nicely intact. The frame and underside are very solid and
structurally sound with some expected scale on the untreated steel
surfaces. Under the hood lies a Cadillac 365 V8 that was harvested
from a 1958 Eldorado. The drivetrain is believed to be harvested
from the same car. Highlights include: Power steering, power
brakes, added power windows, air conditioning, original glass, wire
wheels, continental spare tire, beautiful original gauges, complete
exterior trim and chrome, etc.
Mechanically, the car does run and drive out quite nicely and can
be used and enjoyed the way it is. It is March in Michigan, but I
can tell you the A/C compressor kicked on the way it should and the
under dash unit was blowing cold air with good CFM provided by the
fan.
This is a running and driving unrestored original full classic that
can be enjoyed the way it is, a very interesting palette for a
resto-mod project, or restore to its original glory. No wrong
decision at the price offered here.
