For Sale: 1965 Ford Mustang in Lithia Springs, Georgia

Vehicle Description

This 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback is a Pro Street machine that has been upgraded with a performance-built V8, a race-ready interior, an upgraded suspension, and massive rear rubber. But what we really like is that you get to gallop down the quarter-mile with a coupe that showcases the best of a pony car icon.

First-year fastbacks are already a rare and valuable Mustang, and so it takes some guts to invest and modify one into a Pro Street car. But we also know exactly why it was done. After all, the speediest body style deserves to be the one to get the true power upgrades. Red is an aggressive color and is always perfect for a machine like this. It's suggested this was restored about 20+ years ago. Today, the finish has the right luster and shine that goes well with chrome bumpers, but nothing here is ever too fancy that would keep you from backing down at the dragstrip. A fastback like this looks great with GT-style additions, light the fog lights in the grille. In fact, there are also great Shelby-inspired pieces like the hood scoop, hood pins, side scoops, GT 350 gas cap, and GT 350 callouts on the rocker stripe. Plus, the full over-the-top racing stripes are painted on for a crisp and clean style. Some of these enhancements even likely help the true performance, like the extra air coming in from the GT350R front valance and the well-integrated rear spoiler that reminds us of the California Special. But while this showcases plenty of classic details, the bright Centerline drag wheels draw plenty of attention to the kind of big tire stance that lets you know this is more than just a fun tribute to the best of the pony cars.

The interior gets the Pro Street attitude right. That means plenty of race-ready components, but also the right amount of comfort so that you can still drive it on the right Saturday night. We like the custom bucket seats with distinct red accents that coordinate nicely with the custom door panels. And while this is not a coddler, you do get a few nice features like clean full carpeting, classic wood-like trim, and an upgraded tilt steering column. The rear seat has been replaced with the roll cage for added strength, and it also frees space for the tubbed wheel wells to fit the big rear tires. This is set up for serious driving, and so you have a Painless center console switch box, a Hurst ratchet shifter, crisp white-faced gauges, and a large tach mounted on the dash for a proper head-up display.

The engine bay has the look of polished pure power. We are told this is a 351 cubic-inch V8 that was stroked out to a 406ci total. It's built for serious power with the best go-fast goodies such as aluminum heads, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbrock intake, and long tube headers. The whole setup was built to be stout, and this includes supporting components like the MSD distributor, an aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, and Meziere Enterprises water pump. There's even the fuel cell and batteries placed in the trunk for weight distribution. It all makes for quite a strong motor that also has a smoothness that feels like a top-quality powerhouse. The C4 three-speed transmission has a reverse manual valve body to give you full control. This feeds a narrowed 9-inch rear before sending power to those wide Hoosier tires. Plus, there are also front disc brakes and a reinforced ladder bar rear with adjustable coilovers.

This is a seriously powerful pony that's not for the timid. But those who know what to do with big power will love the style and quality of this Pro Street fastback. Call today!!!
