Vehicle Description
Target Red 1965 Oldsmobile 442 convertible with a black
bucket seat and console interior with a black power top.
This rare 442 muscle car is
authenticated by the 4V on the cowl tag which is the designation of
a 442 package built in Lansing, MI and one of
only 3,468 442 convertibles produced in 1965.
The
actual definition of "442" is based on the 400 cubic inch V8
engine, 4 barrel
carburetor, and dual exhaust. This 442 was upgraded with a 455
cubic inch Oldsmobile Rocket Ultra High Compression big block
engine that is date coded for 1969
which was rated at 390 hp with 500 lbs of torque. This classic has
the correct Hurst Heavy Duty 3-speed manual transmission on the
floor which is very rare and was not offered
until late 1965. The transmission is date code correct.
The car comes nicely optioned with power steering, power brakes,
and a power black convertible top. It is validated by factory 442
only specs like the one piece frame rail and extra gusseting which
was documented with pictures during the restoration. This dream
machine retains is
original chrome side
scoop
showcasing the
original 442
emblems and a dash
emblem. We
believe
this car is a real 442 convertible. This incredible piece of
Oldsmobile history started out as Saffron Yellow and has been
upgraded to Target Red. It is rolling on correct Oldsmobile
steel wheels and dog
dish center caps.
