The saying "there is no replacement for displacement" certainly
proved true when Dodge released the limited-edition Viper sports
model more than 20 years ago. Powered by a unique V-10 engine this
gorgeous 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 has had only two owners since new
and shows only 6950 miles on the odometer and is in excellent
condition!
Headlining the fourth generation of the Viper, the 2008 inaugural
edition had significant upgrades for the new model year. Refined
with help from McLaren and Ricardo engineers, the 8.4L OHV V-10
engine now had dual throttle bodies and multipoint fuel injection,
CNC-shaped combustion chambers, variable valve timing and a
redesigned side-exit exhaust that eliminated cockpit heat. This was
rated at an even 600 HP and 560 lb-ft of torque, the highest power
created to that point, and it was mated to the new Tremec TR6060
with added synchronizers. Even the differential had been revised by
the factory as part of these changes. All this produced impressive
performance stats besting a number of its more expensive
competitors! Car and Driver magazine tested a 2008 model, recording
a 0-60 MPH time of 3.7 seconds, a 0-100 MPH time of 7.6 seconds and
a quarter-mile time of 11.6 seconds at 126 MPH.
Hand-built at the Conner Avenue plant in Detroit, this beautiful
convertible is finished in Black on Black and a complimentary
black-and-gray interior done in leather and suede. This includes
appointments like air conditioning, power windows and locks, and
cruise control. The exterior shape is unmistakable, with functional
aero body panels featuring integral Viper identification, front
splitter, scooped hood and dual outside mirrors. The term SRT-10 is
also noted in various places, leaving no doubt as to the
seriousness of this design. This car rides on 10-spoke polished
aluminum wheels, wearing new tires with less than 100 miles.
