For Sale: 1925 Ford Model T in Morgantown, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

1925 Ford Model T Pickup

The first pickup truck arrived just after the beginning of the 20th century, as the world's first pickup truck was actually a variant of Ford's classic Model T. Ford had no idea what they'd stumbled onto at the time. Their invention quickly became popular and would later evolve into America's Top Truck. Although the cabs in these Model Ts were new, the pickup boxes used were carried over.

For consignment, a 1925 Model T pickup fresh out of long term storage. A fresh coat of paint and some mechanical upkeep were clearly performed on this truck, but keep it looking much as it originally was. A perfect truck to build and restore.

Exterior
From the rear window forward, this is definitely a Model T as it has all the fixins'. A black radiator surround, fender mounted round headlights, a cowled hood, curved fenders, and textured Ford embossed running boards. All this steel is painted black and shows some inclusions and major bubbling but remains shiny. It appears the truck was painted while still heavily rusted underneath, but no invasive rust is seen. From the tail of the cab rearward, the back is pure pickup with the all steel bed and steel box sides, tailgate, and the other rounded rear fenders. The fenders in this truck are wonderfully painted in shiny black, and the bed, cabin and front of the car have been painted as well. Within the bed is an all steel turtle back Model T trunk, leading us to believe thistruck was not always in truck form. Some invasive rust is seen on its edges but it is unique and a rare find to have found a pickup truck. The running boards are excellent and a like new black canvas top is on with 2 square windows in back cover the passengers. 21-inch wood spoked wheels, all around are wrapped by 4.40/4.50-21 tires are like new with plenty of tread.

Interior
Under the black canvas top is a newly covered black vinyl bench with some light tuck and roll seams and buttons. Black rubber covers the floors with Ford logoing in the center. Upfront a black painted metal dash houses the ignition and an ampere gauge within a back painted metal rectangle. To drive this truck fully oneneeds knowledge of a 3 pedal typical Model T setup to make it go forward and backward. The big original steering column is still on with the wheel, and the timing and throttle levers are to the sides. KISS is the key here!

Drivetrain
A 177ciinline 4 cylinder Ford engine is under the cowl hood. It is original and produces 20 hp. On top is a single 1 barrel carburetor tofeel the fuel and air. It is cooled by the standard ribbed radiator and some new wiring is noted. In back is a 2-speed planetary transmission driving a 3.63 ratio rear axle. Looking good, and original, under this hood.

Undercarriage
All good with transverse leaf springs all round. Mechanical drum brakes are on the rear and a stock exhaust are on under here as well. The entire steel structure has been painted black and does appear as wellprepped prior to painting.

Drive-Ability
Let's just say those who know...know...asdriving these early vehicles is a bit of a trick but once you get the hang of it,it's fun and easy. It does require a bit of thought though. A visual inspection tells us this engine is complete and with some tinkering and TLC should fire up.

An original with a shiny but covering rust paint job, nice undercarriage and mechanically sound with its original drivetrain. The bed box is on for hauling and a turtle back trunk is there in case you get a hankering for a coupe. The top is like new and this is a very easy to finish example, 98 years young.
