For Sale: 1967 Chevrolet Corvette in Los Angeles, California

Vehicle Description

Breathtaking 1967 Chevy Corvette Sting Ray Convertible

This impressive 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible boasts the original color "Rally Red" exterior paint with a black stinger hood, black soft top with black vinyl interior. It also comes with a color-matched factory hardtop. Under the hood is a numbers-matching L-71 427/435HP Big Block V-8 engine, paired to a numbers-matching M21 close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. After I purchased the car, the previous owner sent me a picture of the original tank sticker and a letter from a local dealership verifying it. I also sprung for the NCRS shipping report which shows a production date of 6/14/67, delivered to Rosenthal Chevrolet in Arlington VA (I will include that with purchase). Title is free and clear in hand. Now for some details!

Very Rare, Desirable Number-Matching 427/435HP and 4-Speed Muncie Close-Ratio Transmission

  • The Drivetrain: The numbers-matching big block was recently tuned and runs like a dream. It sounds like a beast when it idles and roars to life as the three carbs kick in! The engine block is stamped TO612JE7120862 decodes to a build date of June 12th 1967 as an L71 engine that was # 20,862 in assembly. The engine block stamp shows November 14th 1966 and the engine casting K-14-6 aligns with a vehicle build date of June 14th, 1967.  The factory-correct Tri-Power (3x2bbl carbs) setup was recently tuned and works as expected with the K66 transistor ignition. The M21 close-ratio transmission also matches the VIN and feeds into the original 4.11 posi-traction rear end. this car has power for days!
  • The Exterior: In terms of condition, this Stingray Convertible has a straight body with proper alignment, period correct bolt-on wheels (not original to the car but aftermarket) and correct rally red exterior paint. The chrome is clean with minimal pitting and the original factory side pipes appear to be in excellent overall condition. The windshield appears to have factory A02 tint. While there are a few blemishes to be found in the exterior paint, nothing that really detracts from the overall curb appeal or desirability. Headlight assembly works well and the doors, deck and convertible top all operate nicely.
  • The Interior: The trim-tag correct black vinyl interior is in good condition as are the carpeting and consoles. Not sure if the interior has been refreshed, but it does show typical wear. The headrests were not listed in the photo I have of the tank sticker, so they are likely aftermarket (but are VERY comfortable). The instrument cluster has working gauges and all appear to be factory correct. The factory radio is functional but the factory clock is not (but it should be very little trouble to get it back ticking again). The fuel gauge needs to be re-calibrated but the float and sensor do work. This is and was a well-cared for vehicle.

A Timeless Classic for Your Collection

This numbers-matching L-71 Stingray is a truly wonderful example of a factory-correct L-71 Tri-Power, and its performance clearly speaks for itself when you turn the key and hit the throttle. This car must be seen in person, and with the right owner, could either stay a top-notch daily driver or be carefully restored to NCRS showroom perfection. Either way, it will likely be an investment that continues to appreciate in value. I had this car inspected by a professional in September 2021 and have a video the inspector made. Photos taken in the summer of 2021. Odometer is approximate - I will update with the actual reading (but this is very close if not a bit over) The car is located in Los Angeles, CA and is available for viewing and inspection to serious buyers only.

As with any classic car of this age and value, I strongly encourage any buyer who is unable to view the vehicle in-person to perform a pre-purchase inspection by an independent party of your choosing prior to closing on the purchase.  It can be difficult to adequately describe all aspects of a vehicle's condition in the space available, so an independent inspection can be valuable to a buyer's piece of mind.
