Vehicle Description
1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback
Why This Car Is Special
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a performance-oriented option package of
the Ford Mustang, originally introduced by Ford in August 1968 as a
package for the 1969 model year. The Mach 1 title adorned
performance-oriented Mustang offerings until the original
retirement of the moniker in 1978.
It is not often that you can find a 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with
an upgraded performance 429 cubic inch engine, Ram Air hood, fat
tires and wheels, Red paint, and a black bucket seat interior. But
we have one here at Skyway Classics.

Mechanical
Although it came with a small block Ford engine, ours has had a 429
cubic inch engine shoehorned into the engine compartment for a
serious boost of horsepower and torque.
The 429 looks factory correct with its blue painted air cleaner
system, finned aluminum valve covers, aluminum intake, aluminum
heads, 4-barrel carb, performance exhausts, on the blue painted
Ford block.
It rides on the correct chrome Ford factory styled wheels with
black sidewall performance tires.
Interior
Our 72 has a great black Mach 1 sports bucket seat interior with a
console that has storage and the chrome with wood T-Shift handle,
black door panels with wood grain trim, black carpet, headliner,
factory dash with electric clock, AM-FM Radio, factory tach, black
floor mats, seatbelts, and a wood rim steering wheel.
Exterior
Our Mach has a great red paint job on the body especially on one of
the most recognizable features of the '71-'73 Mustangs, the
optional NACA (NASA) hood design with dual scoops.
The ram-air hood has a two-tone red/black hood paint treatment in
'matte black' coordinated to the base color of the Mach 1 and its
decals and striping
Our Mustang has Black Mach 1 decals, correct factory Rear Deck
Spoiler, front spoiler, and an overall swoopy look.
Conclusion
This 1972 Ford Mustang Mach 1 we have here at Skyway Classics is an
attention getting, top of the line example of a Mustang as you can
get. Red paint with a 429 engine and the Ram Air Hood and stripes
is about as mean a look in a muscle car as you can get.
