We will start off with the exterior of this Cougar. As we can see
all the body lines flow beautiful on this '72 from front to back.
It has great fit of all the panels with gaps also being very nice.
Everything is covered in the Medium Goldenrod paint that is the
factory option and still sports a beautiful finish. It also sprots
the factory optioned Tan Vinyl top that is still in great condition
along with all the trim that surrounds it. The rest of the trim is
all beautiful and both the front and rear bumpers have been
professional rechromed. Up front we can see that all the grill and
headlight bezels are in excellent condition for their age. Out back
you'll notice it has a great fir on the trunk with all the gaps
being every and symmetrical. All the glass in this '72 is also in
phenomenal condition as it shows to have always been well cared
for. To finish off the look it's sitting on a set of American
Racing wheels with new tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of this XR7. On the inside it's
all done in the factory Ginger Leather & Vinyl combo with much of
it appearing to be original and stunning. It features the front
bucket seats and rear bench seat along with having the mini center
console that houses the automatic shifter. All the seat covers are
in phenomenal condition for their age with the driver seat showing
a little more wear than the rest. Both door panels appear original
and have some wear on the arm rest part. Looking at the dahs we can
see it also looks to be original and has a great fit of the pad
with some cracks and splits. The gauges are all very nice and
feature the wood grain accent that tie in perfectly to the original
steering wheel. All the carpet has a great fit is very nice as well
along with all the headliner and visors. Inside the trunk is all
solid and we can see it has the factory liner and comes with the
spare as well.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of this Mercury. Under the
hood it's powered by the original 351 V8 engine that's setup with
the factory 2-barrel intake. It's dressed out in the factory air
cleaner along with having the factory valve covers. This Cougar is
set up with Factory Air Conditioning along with having Power
Steering and Power Brakes with Disc Brakes on the Front. The 351
engine is mated to the original FMX Automatic Transmission and the
stock rear end with 2.75 Gears. When we look under this '72 we can
see that it's in very nice condition from front to back and doesn't
show any signs of major accidents or abuse. All the fuel lines and
brake lines are in good condition as well. On the highway it runs
out and drives great as the engine performs excellent and the
transmission shifts out smooth. Don't miss out on your chance to
cruise back in time with this classic Cougar.
