For Sale: 1966 Pontiac Tempest in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

Pontiacs were on the wide track for 1966, and today that makes them one cool cruiser. When you can find a Tempest Custom hardtop coupe with the right mix of investments and originality, and it's offered at such a nice price, you're looking at a deal that's always in style.

Stacked headlights, the pointed hood, and those flying buttress C-pillars make this Tempest look like a much more expensive car. In fact, the pillarless hardtop profile instantly gives this both a sporty and sophisticated appearance. While we love the way it already looks, we know there are many of you out there who already see the full GTO clone potential (after all, the internal naming at GM still called it the Tempest GTO.) But before you take this one to muscle car school, take a look at all the great elements that are already in place. The Tempest Custom has some awesome-looking full-length trim that helps to highlight the Coke-bottle curves. Another feature that's lost in the GTO trim is how the tail lights seem to appreciate the form of the rear end. The factory-correct Fontaine Blue has the right mix of a good glow but an easy driver-quality style. Plus, the 15-inch Torq Thrust wheels are a nice upgrade to accommodate modern touring tires. So it's a cruiser-ready coupe.

There's added sophistication from the moment you open the door. After all, the factory-correct blue-on-blue appearance is something you might find in a European coupe. It's quite complete, right down to the working dome light. And just like the exterior, the aim seems to be about looking good while never losing a road-ready feeling. There are also provisions for air conditioning (the compressor will at least need a belt before functioning again.) This Tempest Custom has a GTO-level of drive engagement with front bucket seats, a center console, and sporty round gauges. There are even the right cruiser upgrades like a sports steering wheel on a tilt column and an auxiliary readout trio.

Under the hood is a year-correct 326 cubic-inch V8. It inhales deeply with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and an Edelbrock intake. It exhales into a true dual exhaust that also has Cherry Bomb resonators for the right V8 tune. And as you look at the total package, everything from the Edelbrock polished valve covers to the Optima red top battery shows that this has been under proper care. Power steering, power brakes, front discs, an automatic transmission, and a nice ride are all about reaffirming the feeling that this is the hardtop you'll want to really drive.

When an interesting and well-presented classic like this is also so affordable, you know you need to hurry to grab this deal. Call today!!!
