Here's a real-deal 1972 Pontiac GTO with a big V8,
four-on-the-floor, a cool color combo, and plenty of nice
additions. It all makes for the kind of muscle car that's great for
those who really like to drive something powerful and
distinctive.
Pontiac fans know why these '72 coupes are so collectible. After
all, it's the final year for the legendary second generation. It's
the one that established the GTO as the true blacktop king with the
wide stance and sleek hardtop profile. And arguably, they saved the
best for last. The extra wide dual grilles want to consume the
lesser cars in front, the same goes for the wide ram air hood
scoops. There are also subtle details that add to the sporty style,
like the color-matched front bumper, a hint of flying buttress in
the rear pillars, and the side quad exhaust tips that remind us of
the Trans Ams of this era. The light blue metallic paint does a
good job of radiating in the sunlight for an attractive style. But
we like how the overall theme of the car is about keeping a
driver-quality presentation. It makes for less anxiety out on the
streets, and thus, the big V8 and four-speed are easier to
enjoy.
The Ivory White interior has a nice tone to go with the light blue
exterior. It sort of looks like the blue sky and white cloud summer
days that are perfect for enjoying a GTO. The interior is highly
stock, and so that also means good details, like the working dome
light. Plus, while you have bright white upholstery, high-traffic
areas are done in black to show less dirt. So you once again get
the feeling that this car wants you to enjoy it to the fullest.
There are even nice additions like a retro-style AM/FM stereo with
aux input and provisions for R134a air conditioning (it will need
servicing to blow cold again.) Bucket seats, a center console,
round gauges, machine-turned panels, and a handy hood tach make for
a sporty atmosphere. But what you'll really love is the feeling of
control that comes from grabbing the three-spoke steering wheel in
your left hand, and your right one will be instantly attracted to
the Hurst shifter.
Pontiac's 455 cubic-inch V8 was their largest offering of the
muscle car era, and so it's great to have this upgrade under the
hood of a true GTO. It inhales deeply with a four-barrel carburetor
and an Edelbrock intake. It makes for a nice power package that
gives a nice rumble from the X-pipe dual exhaust. But if you're
really looking to announce you've got the big motor, the exhaust
cutouts know how to instantly bring the thunder. We love these
Pontiac V8s because they are hardy setup, and so it will be fun to
give this a weekend tune-up to unlock even more power. After all,
we know you'll likely want to maximize the muscle since the
four-speed manual transmission puts the full control firmly in your
hands. Power steering, power brakes with front discs, stronger
boxed rear arms, sway bars front & rear, and wide BF Goodrich T/As
on Rally II wheels all make for a nice all-around driving
experience.
The sale comes complete with good paperwork, like the owner's
manual service manuals, build receipts, and PHS (Pontiac Historic
Services) documentation. This is distinction, style, and big V8
appeal all in one hardtop package. Call today!!!
