Vehicle Description
This 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS is a True Super Sport with a 409 V8
and was a recent national award winner. The Impala has always been
a highly romanticized model in pop culture. The Beach Boys' famous
song "409" off their "Surfin' Safari" album was an ode to the
optional big block motor found in this Impala. Later on, the 64
Impala became the most iconic car for low-riders in the '90s with
many famous rappers, including Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, rapping
about "rollin' in [their] 6-4s" and the '64 Impalas remain a
favorite for low-riders even today. In 1964, the plushest,
sportiest, and all around nicest Chevrolet that you could buy was
the Impala SS and it was only offered as a 2 door. In addition to
the standard features in the base model Impalas, the Super Sports
had front bucket seats, upgraded leather grained vinyl upholstery,
and a locking center console. The interiors on '64 Impala Super
Sports also had SS specific badging on the door panels and center
console. From the exterior, Chevrolet put "SS" logos on the rear
quarters, deck lid, and wheel covers so everyone knew that you were
driving the Super Sport. The big block renditions also received
special badging on the front quarters, just in case someone thought
to challenge you for your pink slip. This particular '64 Impala SS
comes to us from a prominent east coast collector who totally
babied this car. Under the hood on this '64 Impala SS is what was
the biggest engine option in the day, a 409 Cubic Inch V8 engine
(QB suffix) with dual 4 barrel carburetors, that pushed out 425
horsepower in its day. The 409 is mated to a 4 speed manual
transmission with floor mounted shifter, that makes driving this
classic Chevy an absolute joy to drive. Dual exhaust gives this
Super Sport 409 car a nice throaty sound. This Impala SS 409 is a
well-optioned car. Power Steering makes getting in and out of tight
spaces in this Impala SS so much easier. With Power Brakes, you can
be sure that this Super Sport has plenty of stopping power for the
409 dual carb setup under the hood. The exterior on this 1964
Impala SS has been refinished in a beautiful Ember Red
basecoat/clearcoat that gives the car an eye-popping exterior look.
This Big Block car rides on 4 bias-ply whitewall tires with the
special Super Sport wheelcovers that were only available on the SS
models. The interior on this '64 Impala SS is absolutely stunning!
The black vinyl front bucket seats and black vinyl rear bench seat
are in superb, show-worthy condition. The center console, dash, and
door panels also all appear to be in excellent shape. The dash is
equipped with a 120 MPH Speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, radio,
and electric clock, as well as a few indicator lights. Oil
pressure, temperature, and amp gauges have also been added, neatly
tucked under the dash. Whether you're looking for your very first
classic car or your garage is full of classic Chevys, this 1964
Chevrolet Impala SS 409 is the car for you. Give us a call
