1959 Porsche 356A
1600 Convertible D with Coachwork by
Drauz: One of only 1,330 Produced This
beautiful 1959 Porsche
356A Convertible D Super 1600 with
Coachwork by Drauz is one of only 1,330 produced making it an
extremely rare and desirable car. Just out of loving ownership
where it was cherished and well
maintained. This Convertible D runs
and drives well and wears a nice older restoration. The
engine in the car is a period-correct 1600 unit numbered
74615 ( according to the Kardex, the original engine number was
75058.) As you can see, the engine in the car is very close in
numbers to the original. A very clean, straight, and solid
car overall. Offered with its Kardex from
Porsche. A highly collectible Porsche that would be an
absolute joy and privilege to own. The original
Porsche 356 Speedster has become a legend, but in its day, it was
just a bit too bare-bones for some customers. Porsches answer was
the 356A Convertible D, D referring to Drauz, the
German coachbuilder that produced the new cars bodywork. The new
car featured a higher windshield and wind-up door windows for
enhanced weather protection, as well as fully upholstered seats,
and it was built using the same 356A styling, chassis, and
drivetrain as the final Speedsters. Of the three versions of
Porsches lightweight open cars equipped with removable
chrome-framed windshields,
the Convertible D is the rarest. Only
1,330 were built, compared to nearly 4,000 356 and 356A Speedsters
and 2,653 356B Roadsters. That makes
the Convertible D a prized commodity
today. A rare, most attractive, and more practical alternative to
the 356 Speedster. This is a desirable, honestly presented Porsche
of rarity and beauty, and it is ready to drive in style. Here is a
rare opportunity for the serious Porsche enthusiast to acquire a
hand-built touring machine from the most successful sports car
maker in the world. Chassis no. 86689Engine no. 74615 in
