Vehicle Description
1979 Ford F100 Pickup
Legend has it that early on in the history of Ford Motor Company a
noticeable lowercase "e" completed the curl at the back of the
cursive F on the Ford name. Henry Ford, and Thomas Edison both had
winter estates in Ft. Meyers Florida, and shared ideas and cigars.
One Idea that would make Ford a real innovator was the concept of
the assembly line. This original idea came from Edison, and in
deference to him and his idea, Henry Ford honored him in his early
logo with that "e" on the curl, and as they say the rest is
history!
For consignment, a 1979 version of the Ford F100 full size pickup.
This one has plenty of new parts, (gaskets, seals, brakes, brake
shoes, exhaust, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, shocks etc.) and
a factory matching color respray. There is some invasive rust in
the bed and on the driver's side rear of the frame at the bumper
bracket.
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by
the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws
to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public
highways in your area.*
Exterior
In typical F100 style, a shiny grille headlight bezels and bumper
are leading the way on this two toned Coral and Light Sand colored
truck. This is a respray of the factory colors and is a base/clear
application. The clear coat application is peeling on the hood in a
rather large area and we note some invasive rust in the filler
panel at the base of the tail gate. The panels are nice and
straight and some have been recently replaced to remediate rust,
particularly the inner and outer rockers. Running boards are below
the doors and trimmings are delineating the paint colors on the
upper and lower transition areas. A Light Sand bed cap is installed
and has sliding side windows on the sides. On the back, a new
bumper is shining brightly. The bed has a black tuff plastic liner,
however the consignor states there is some rust on the steel bed
flooring under the covering. 15-inch drilled mag wheels are on all
4 corners wrapped in 235/75R15 rubber.
Interior
Lightly soiled door panels consist of molded light sand plastic
with some wood applique highlighting in various panels are
highlighted bybody matching Coral steel surrounds. Seating is also
sand vinyl and shows some wear through on the driver's side of the
factory bench. The dash is all factory F100 square partition design
and is fairly clean. Light gold carpeting is on the floors and
shows some slight soiling. The headliner is also in light sand
color with orange painted steel surrounding it.
Drivetrain
Under the hood in an unrestored engine bay is the correct 302ci V8.
It is topped with a single 2-barrel carburetor, and has a C6 3
speed automatic transmission on back. A new custom glass-pack dual
exhaust system has been installed and the catalyticconverterhas
been removed. The rear axle is a Ford 9 inch 2.75 gear ratio. Our
consignor notes that the engine was recently treated to an oil
change and new spark plugs.
Undercarriage
Some invasive rust is noted on the underside of the bed, on the
back there is some invasive rust near the rear bumper mount on the
driver's side, on the floors of the bed and inner cab corners have
the invasive rust going on. Other surfaces are covered in heavier
surface rust and we note the invasive rust has spread to the left
rear of the frame where it meets the bumper bracket. Radius arms
and coil springs are in front and leaf springs for the rear with
new shocks all around. Power disc brakes for the front, and power
drums for the back. For the brake system, new calipers, pads,
hoses, shoes, wheel cylinders and a new master cylinder have been
installed.
Drive-Ability
She started quickly and off to the test track where it did nicely.
Smooth acceleration, smooth shifting and good handling. All the
recent maintenance and parts replacing has made this truck
mechanically sound.
A worker bee in classic 1979 form, new paint, and plenty of new
parts and you are ready to go. Perhaps you need to pay a bit of
attention to the underlying rust just as a side note, but you can
still drive and enjoy this classic hauler while you do the
work.
