For Sale: 1968 Ford Mustang in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

This 1968 Ford Mustang is quite a nicely detailed Bullitt tribute, so you know you'll love the extra-long stares it gets from enthusiasts. But more than just Hollywood allure, this has also been given the right solid investment to make sure this is ready for everything from a cruise-in to the hills of San Francisco.

Highland Green is an awesome Mustang color, but it became a true icon after Steve McQueen's coupe used it in Bullitt. So it's awesome to have a Marti Report proving that this real-deal fastback is also a real-deal factory Highland Green car. That's why it makes for such an ideal Bullitt tribute. This one looks right with the full deleted badging, blackout grille, Deluxe hood, and dark Torq Thrust wheels. There are even a few cool hints of added distinction with the GT500 gas cap and modern ground illuminators in the doors that use Ford's modern Bullitt logo. So it's a sports car worthy of all the McQueen memorabilia that comes with the sale... but this car is also much more. The Bullitt car looked like an urban driver, but the finish here has a smoother style with a nice metallic glow. It's not that you'd want to lock this one away in a museum, but we wouldn't be surprised if you got ushered to a top spot at many car shows. Bright chrome bumpers, clean glass, pliable weather-stripping, quite good body lines, and doors that close confidently give this the quality you want in any well-done classic.

The crisp black interior looks good against the dark green exterior. Nice upholstery, plush carpeting, a smooth dash, and a taut headliner make this inviting. They even upgraded the radio to an AM/FM stereo with USB and Bluetooth for the best on modern driving music. And this is certainly meant to be a driver with front bucket seats, clear readouts, and a cool wood-rimmed sports steering wheel with a Bullitt horn cap. You probably won't take too many passengers in the rear, so that space is more about being impressive for its vintage details. That includes the fold-down rear seat. So it all feels like a nicely detailed classic that won't sweat the scrutiny of people coming in for a closer look.

The engine bay has a clean and tidy style, making it easy to show off the upgrades. The hint of Shelby's influence around this car is especially noticeable in the engine bay. The long Cobra air grabber, matching finned valve covers, and Monte Carlo bar are all pure Shelby GT500 cool. At heart is a 302 cubic-inch V8 that inhales deeper with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and exhales deeply out of a newer dual exhaust. As you look at the exhaust pipe in the undercarriage photos, you can spot plenty of newer investments, including the gas tank, rear shocks, springs, and bushings, all looking newer. It's the car that gives you confidence out on the road. And so it feels like a proper cruiser with a three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, front disc brakes, and a newer set of wide BF Goodrich tires.

Bullitt style, extra flair, Shelby details, and a great driving attitude make for a terrific classic fastback of distinction. Call now!
