In May 1986 Lancia presented the Thema 8.32 known as "Thema Ferrari", the initials 8.32 indicating the number of cylinders and valves of its engine.
The engine delivers 215 HP derived from the Ferrari Mondial Quattrovalvole, making this model immediately the most powerful front-wheel drive production car on the market.
The 8.32 had a lavish interior for the time.
The interior is fully upholstered in briar, the seats in Pelle Frau and/or Alcantara.
Some of the features were exclusive: the automatically retractable rear head restraints, the electronic suspension with automatic or sports calibration selectable by the driver, the dashboard made with analogue instruments mounted on a real briar panel and Ferrari-style vents, up to the retractable rear wing in the boot, which can be activated by turning the windscreen wiper lever.
Between the first and second series, 3,520 units were produced, of which 2 units of a special numbered series (II Series) in Ferrari Red colour. The only Thema 8.32 I Series in Ferrari Red livery officially recognized was owned by Abarth and used by Cesare Fiorio.
