FERRARI 208 GTS TURBO-1984
CODE RDS00469
In the 1980s in Italy there was legislation which rewarded engines with displacements of less than 2.0 liters with tax breaks which made it possible to have significant savings, in particular, for more expensive sports cars such as those of Ferrari.
The Scuderia di Maranello therefore took the opportunity to present "downsized" V8 engines, which were very successful among Italian customers.
In the same years, the owners of the 208 GTB and 2.0-litre 208 GTS models appreciated the savings they had with the purchase of that car, the tax paid was about half at the time of purchase, but they also required more performance from the car.
Ferrari responded to this request with a solution that was proving to be very successful on racetracks around the world: the turbocharger.
Thus it was that the 208 GTB Turbo was presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1982, the first road-going Ferrari to be supercharged by a turbocharger followed closely by the launch of the GTS Turbo.
Mechanically and aesthetically it was identical to the 308, it differed only in the engine: the 1991 cm³ V8 of the Dino 208 GT4 which was available in the coupé versions (GTB), and in the targa version (GTS) with removable roof.
