BMW 3.0 CSL "BATMOBILE"-1973
CODE RDS00200
N.B: THE PRICE IS IN EURO
Three letters that made legendary one of the most important BMWs in the history of the “CSL” (Coupé, Sportiva, Leggera). In fact, it is precisely the lightness that plays a fundamental role in the success that this car has achieved in the Touring car championships.
The 3.0 CSL was produced in very few specimens, exclusively for homologation in competitions.
Obviously during the production the CSL saw some updates and series, following the modifications that would then be exploited in the race. In total, four series were produced for a total of 1265 units.
Our CSL is a very rare 3rd series produced in only 110 units, also called "Batmobile" due to the aerodynamic kit characterized by numerous spoilers placed on the car, aimed at improving the aerodynamic flows and which earned it this nickname.
These spoilers were sold together with the car, but not installed, as they were not approved for road use in some countries.
The third series represents one of the rarest and most interesting series, both for the successes obtained in the races and for the revolutionary features such as: the engine increased to 3,153 cc (injection), aluminum doors and bonnets, and other unprecedented devices.
To further enhance this sports car was the driver Toine Hezemans, who in 1973, driving a BMW 3.0 CSL, won the European Touring Car Championship. Victories that also arrived from 1975 to 1979, thus entering by right the Olympus of the most glorious and important racing cars in history.
