Description:
This 1978 Land Rover Series III is a left-hand-drive example that
was assembled under license by Ensambladora Automotriz S.A. in
Costa Rica, and it was imported to the US in 2022. The truck is
finished in blue over black vinyl and is powered by a 2.25-liter
diesel inline-four linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a
dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a vented tropical
roof, 16? steel wheels, Selectro manually-locking front hubs, Hella
driving lights, front tow hooks, folding rear and side steps, a
rear ladder, and inward-facing rear jump seats.
Interior:
The cabin features three-across front seats trimmed in black vinyl
upholstery. Additional appointments include sliding side windows,
rubber floor mats, and four fold-up rear jump seats. A Lev-o-Gage
inclinometer is fitted to the dashboard and the seat mounts have
been replaced. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 150-km/h
speedometer along with a combination gauge indicating water
temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 25k
kilometers (~15k miles).
Exterior:
The truck was repainted in its current shade of blue during a
refurbishment carried out under prior ownership. Features include a
vented tropical roof, cowl vents, a steel front bumper with tow
hooks, yellow Hella driving lights, lighting guards, Union Jack
fender decals, folding rear and side steps, fender-mounted side
mirrors, mudflaps, a rear ladder, and a clevis pin hitch. A fuel
container is mounted to the swing-out rear door. Blue-finished 16?
steel wheels wear 235/85 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires, and a
full-size spare wheel and tire are mounted to the hood. The truck
is equipped with Selectro manually locking front hubs. Stopping
power is provided by power-assisted drum brakes.
Drivetrain:
The 2.25-liter diesel inline-four was factory rated at 60
horsepower and 103 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear or
all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a
dual-range transfer case. Additional underside images can be viewed
