R8 was a very unique looking supercar that had more chiseled lines
than many of the European counterparts on the market. The R8 has
gone on to become a successful lineup of supercars with many
variations and special editions introduced over the years. A few
facelifts have occurred since the release of the first R8's, but
the same basic look remains. As soon as the facelifted R8 was
released, away went the manual transmission option. From then on
Audi offered a dual clutch automatic transmission which could be
shifted via paddles. The dual clutch transmission can shift quicker
than a person, but part of the connection between the driver and
the car is lost, no more shifting or heel-toeing. Because of the
manual transmission being nixed from the option list, the manual
transmission R8's like this one, have become very desirable. The
car you see here is a 2012 Audi R8 V10 Spyder finished in metallic
Silver over a black leather interior, with a black soft top, and
showing approximately 23,416 miles on the digital odometer.
Incredible supercar lines include side air intakes in the rear
quarter panels, air strakes in the front and rear bumpers, and
bulging fenders. The R8's have unmistakable lines, and this car is
finished in a deep metallic silver. The front end of the car has
been covered in paint protection film, while the entire car was
ceramic coated recently. The exterior finish is very nice, and has
obviously been well cared for. The factory wheels of this R8 have
been replaced by Forged Stasis multi-spoke wheels which have just
the right offset thanks to 15mm spacers being added. The wheels are
wrapped in sticky Michelin tires, and custom finished dark blue
brake calipers peek from behind the spokes of the wheels. A nicely
appointed interior is an Audi prerequisite, so there's no question
that the interior of this R8 is very nice. Purposeful in its
design, thanks to a small passenger compartment, the car has a very
driver focused dashboard layout with everything in arms reach, and
in view of the driver. A few areas of carbon fiber trim spice up
the interior, and white face gauges highlight the 10k RPM
tachometer, and 220 MPH speedometer. Simple climate control knobs
sit just below the Audi Stereo and Navigation unit. Buttons for
heated seats, traction control, power top, rear spoiler, and
suspension settings make up the rest of the controls. A Bang &
Olufsen sound system is another notable feature of this particular
R8, though the sound of the R8's V10 is something that we consider
music to the ears. At the rear of the car is the 5.2 Liter V10,
which is shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo. This particular R8
has the desirable 6-speed manual transmission, often called the
gated manual, since the shifter inside the car travels through a
gated trim piece on the center console. The engine bay features
multiple carbon fiber trim pieces, with the main piece announcing
that the car is an Audi R8. The engine has been treated to a few
aftermarket tweaks, including a Unitronic Stage 2 Tune which is
said to bump the car's power to approximately 605 horsepower. 5.2
Liter V10 sounds incredible, and this car's exhaust having been
changed to a Stasis exhaust system just amplifies the sound,
especially at higher RPM's. The aforementioned blue brake calipers
clamp vented Stasis brake rotors, and ride height and dampening is
handled by a Stasis suspension. Still a supercar that looks modern,
the R8 has enjoyed a number of years of success, through facelifts,
multiple engine and transmission options, and special edition v
