Vehicle Description
Full-size loaded luxury is a rarity these days, and so this
affordable 1981 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Brougham has a very
alluring style. Newer investments, a loaded A/C interior, and the
space to carry everyone and their luggage is all part of this
well-presented sedan's total package. It also just happens to be an
interesting diesel-powered car, too!
The story we're told on this one is that this Olds spent its first
40 years under one family's care (a father and daughter.) The first
owner outside of the family came in the spring of 2022, and he
spent the last year making a solid investment to keep this a solid
cruiser. The first impression you'll get from this one is a
survivor-style machine where even the low odometer is believed to
reflect the full mileage. The Dark Claret paint looks largely
original, but this is also where you'll see the first more recent
investment. The hood and trunk were repainted because of fading
that happens in 40+ years. It wasn't about making anything overly
glossy, but just the right look to fit this car's matured style.
New bumper fillers, good chrome bumpers, a new power antenna,
intricate tail lights, and a taut color-matched vinyl top are all
part of a vintage premium style that keeps this upper-level
Brougham model so attractive. Plus, the full-length pinstripe does
a great job of showcasing the straightness of the sheet metal on a
well-respected family classic.
We know you've seen triple black sports cars before, well here you
have a triple maroon cruiser with the exterior, roof and interior
all matching for a very classy look. And the premium Brougham trim
makes for a desirably luxurious setup. It has pillow-top velour
upholstery, and low mileage means little seat time. So it's both
attractive and comfy. There's plenty of legroom to sit six people
comfortably across two wide benches. But a premium car also coddles
the drive with exclusivity. So you can fold down the front for the
ideal individual space. The power seat makes it easy to get comfy,
and the tilt steering column gives you a good view of the full
gauge package. And it's an easy reach to all the best features,
like power windows, power locks, rear defogger, and the
AM/FM/cassette stereo. Plus, the right recent investments were made
to keep this an inviting cruiser. It's everywhere from the new
headliner to a new compressor for the cold-blowing air conditioning
system.
Under the hood is a 350 cubic-inch V8, but not necessarily the kind
you were expecting. This is from the few years when diesel power
was available to Oldsmobile. The engine bay is honest but also
well-maintained. In fact, you'll love the recent investment in
fundamentals, like a rebuilt starter, new water pump, rebuilt
injector pump, new fuel tank, new timing chain, and a new radiator.
So it fires up eagerly and has the hardy feeling you want in a
diesel powerhouse. The high torque nature of a diesel makes it nice
for a big cruising sedan. And a car like this was really made for
the open road. You have all the right comfy driving features, like
power steering with a new pump, power brakes, front discs, new
shocks, a three-speed automatic transmission, cruise control, and
new tires.
We have an even longer list of newer items that have gone into this
diesel Olds (so call for all the details.) The sale even comes with
the owner's manual and maintenance records. It all makes for a
distinct and cruiser-ready triple-maroon sedan. Call today!!!
