Vehicle Description
After the 190 series, Mercedes-Benz rolled out the W202 class for
1993 as its newest entry-level, rear-drive model for customers who
want the benefits of the three-pointed star while being at least
somewhat frugal. This example was made in either Mercedes' Bremen
or Sindelfingen factories in August 1995. Its original delivery
date was August 8, 1995.
Finished in Imperial Red, (code DB-582), the paint and trim are in
overall very good order. The bodywork is straight and solid, the
engine bay is tidy and the cargo area looks great. There's even a
first-aid kit in the trunk. The car's chrome and body-colored
bumpers fit tightly to the body.
This car rolls on Goodyear Viva 3 radials, size 195/65R15 at every
corner. Each tire is mounted to a factory, eight-hole light alloy
wheel (code 652). The tires are in very good condition while the
wheels are in good, original order. This model has Mercedes'
innovative mono windshield wiper.
The C-Class debuted with a complete lineup of multi-valve engines.
The family of four-cylinder petrol units, called M111, debuted in
the C180, the C200 and C220. The 2.2L in this example is a DOHC
affair, with 16 valves (code M111.961). Backing the motor is a
four-speed automatic transmission (code 4G-TRONIC 722.4 - code
420). Driver convenience features include electronic climate
control (code 581); power front seats (codes 221 and 222); exterior
temperature indicator (code 240); MB Exquisit radio (code 251);
cassette compartment in center console (code 331); sunroof (code
412); cruise control (code 440); power windows (code 584);
insulated glass and rear defroster (code 593).
Safety equipment includes dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes and
side impact protection.
Inside, the car has a MB-Tex interior done in Mushroom/Champignon
(code 105). The front buckets look great, as does the complementing
carpet. The headliner, however, is merely in satisfactory order.
The usual, oversized four-spoke steering wheel is present. The
inner door panels and dashboard with VDO gauges look great. The
center console and shifter mirror the rest of the interior's
condition and look good with the wood accents. A factory AM/FM
stereo completes the interior.
Competition to this Mercedes in 1995 included: Acura's Integra,
Audi's A4, BMW's 320i, Cadillac's new-for-1996 Catera, Infiniti's
G20, Lexus' ES300, Saab's 900 and Volvo's 850.
