Most Porsche 914s came with an air-cooled, flat four-cylinder
engine mounted amidships, just behind the driver and passenger. A
previous owner kept it stored and started it regularly but never
had as much free time to devote to it as he hoped.
Made in September 1975 in Porsche's Stuttgart, West German factory,
this two-seater finished in Light Yellow (code 117) with black
trim, the car's exterior is in overall very good order. The
bodywork is straight and solid and the black bumpers fit tightly to
the car's body.
This low-slung coupe rolls on older BFGoodrich g-force T/A radials,
size 205/50ZR15 all around. Each one is mounted to a polished Fuchs
alloy wheel. The wheels are all in good, original order.
Instead of that horizontal, air-cooled motor, someone decided to
shoehorn in a 283 CID Smallblock Chevrolet V-8 engine with World
302 heads, casting #JW4, an Edelbrock Torker II Intake Manifold and
a New Holley Carb, (possibly 700 CFM). The exhaust has stainless
headers, welded-in mufflers and pipes, an Accel coil w/new MSD
ignition wires and plugs.
The interior is in overall good order, the bucket seats very good
while the dash, with its VDO gauges, has a few cracks. The black
carpet looks good, too. A three-spoke aftermarket steering wheel is
in very good order. The car has a starter button behind the front
driver's seat, turn the key on and push the starter switch, off you
go. A custom Rennshifter with a wooden top and a Sony AM/FM stereo
with CD player rounds out the interior.
Nineteen seventy-six was the final model year for the 914,
succeeded by the front-engine, water-cooled 924. This is a classic
sleeper, in every sense. Most other drivers would not expect to
find a SBC V-8 in a Porsche.
If you're looking for a unique classic driver, this Porsche more
than fills the bill. Stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars today to
check it out for yourself.
