When it debuted for 2012, the all-new Camaro ZL1 was far more than
a mere throwback to its rare late-1960s namesake or a belated reply
to Shelby's rowdy new GT500. Engineered to accelerate, handle and
stop with amazing balance and an aerodynamic drag-limited top end
of 180 MPH, the new ZL1 was, and remains, a performance tour de
force with few equals. Known internally as the "HP" during
development, the long-awaited ber Camaro delivered gut-wrenching
acceleration with the handling and braking to harness it
effectively.
In addition to its 6.2L ZL1 V-8 powerplant delivering a
factory-rated 580 HP in concert with a 6-speed manual transmission,
this Ashen Gray example is one of only 142 ZL1's produced in this
color. With a total production number of only 1700 units in 2012,
this is a rare car! Adding to the provenance of the car, it
benefited from the sole ownership of two "car guy" brothers. The
car has accumulated only 389 miles since new and has been
impeccably cared for! The majority of the 389 miles on the odometer
were accumulated driving to get the oil changed according to the
calendar, certainly not the miles!
Unmistakable ZL1 styling cues include an exposed carbon fiber weave
hood insert, a cowl induction-style hood bulge and a driver-focused
black and gray interior that features smart red accent stitching.
While capable of explosive performance in all disciplines, this ZL1
also delivers startling levels of comfort and convenience with a
power sunroof, 8-way front powered and heated sport seats, air
conditioning and concert-hall sound from the AM/FM/CD stereo system
with SiriusXM satellite radio readiness.
Amazing handling and responsiveness to driver inputs are courtesy
of the ZL1's technical wizardry, including Magnetic Ride Control, a
multi-Link rear suspension, StabiliTrak electronic stability system
and the precision of rack-and-pinion steering gear. A stainless
steel exhaust system provides a wicked exhaust note with
durability. Race-derived Brembo 4-wheel disc brakes provide
anchor-like stopping power, and road contact is achieved with a set
of great-looking 20-inch ZL1 aluminum alloy wheels mounting
Goodyear Eagle F1 tires.
This collector-worthy, first-year ZL1 likely among the lowest mile
examples for 2012!
