Vehicle Description
This 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner is an awesome 50s convertible
finished in an eye-catching two-tone color scheme. Making its
initial debut in 1955, the Ford Fairlane replaced the Crestline as
the top of the line passenger car model for Ford. The name
"Fairlane" was borrowed from Henry and Clara Ford's 1,300 acre
"Fair Lane" Estate located in Dearborn, Michigan. These new
Fairlanes sported a completely new design, distinguishing
themselves from the previous Crestline models, featuring longer,
lower, and wider bodies, along with special "V" shaped side trim
along the belt line. With the exception of a few updates to the
exterior trim, front grilles, and driving lights, the exteriors on
the Fairlane went largely unchanged in 1956. Perhaps the biggest
two changes made to the 1956 Fords occurred under the hoods and in
the passenger cabins. First of all, the electrical systems in 1956
across all Fords were upgraded to a 12 volt system which made the
'56 Fords start up more reliably and made the electrical systems
across the car more dependable. Second, Ford redesigned the
instrument cluster and steering wheel since customers complained in
1955 that the speedometer was hard to read. Under the hood on on
this 1956 Sunliner is a 292 Cubic Inch V8 engine paired with a
single 4 barrel carburetor that was said to have pushed out 200
horsepower when new. The 292 V8 is backed by a Ford-O-Matic
automatic transmission that makes this Fifties Ford a breeze for
anybody to drive. Exhaust exits this Ford's powerplant via a dual
exhaust setup that gives the car a nice throaty sound. This Ford
Sunliner is packed with some wonderful options! With power brakes,
bringing this '56 Ford to a full stop is made much easier and
improves the overall driving experience. The white vinyl power
convertible top is in excellent shape and goes up and down with
ease and is operated via an under-dash mounted toggle. A set of
matching fender skirts and rear-mounted continental kit further add
to the 50s allure of this Fairlane Sunliner. This Sunliner
Convertible rides on a set of wide whitewall radial tires that are
each paired with chrome wire basket wheel covers. The exterior was
correctly refinished in a beautiful two-tone paint scheme
consisting of Mandarin Orange and Colonial White, completing the
exterior look of the car. The interior of this Sunliner is
stunning! The front and rear bench seats have been correctly
reupholstered in White Vinyl with matching Orange Vinyl inserts.
The Mandarin Orange painted dash, White and Orange Vinyl
upholstered door panels, and steering wheel all appear to be in
their stock configuration and are in superb condition. The dash is
equipped with a 120 MPH speedometer, temperature gauge, and fuel
gauge along with a clock and push-button AM radio. A trifecta of
SunPro gauges consisting of gauges for volts, temperature, and oil
pressure are mounted neatly under the dash as well. Whether you're
adding to your blue oval 50s collection or you're buying your first
classic car, this 1956 Ford Fairlane Sunliner would make an
excellent choice. Give us a call today at 763-428-7337!
