Vehicle Description
One look at the big air grabber on top of the hood, seriously meaty
rear tires, and big rear wing, and you know this 1978 Chevrolet
Monza Pro Street is a quarter-mile king. So dig into all the
details on this slick supercharged coupe that takes the classic
style and adds all the right competition-ready goodies.
The sleek design of the Monza 2+2 is popular with the custom street
machine crowd. But the true key to this one is its full commitment
to the racecar lifestyle. The Monza was already considered
lightweight, but this has been upgraded to a full fiberglass front
end, including the doors. The Weld-style racing wheels showcase the
skinny tire front and massive rear rubber setup. You've also got a
full Plexiglas window setup, a massive rear spoiler, and a
professional-style wheelie bar. And of course, the massive motor
popping out of the hood is the true sign this one means business.
So since this car comes from the Lake Havasu region, we understand
its motto: "We are the shake in the lake."
The interior was given all the right investments for a true track
machine. That means getting rid of extra weight and making sure
everything is focused on speed. Even the seats are lightweight
aluminum. But the full setup is thoughtfully done For example,
there's a full roll NHRA-certified cage welded to the frame, and
there's a partial swing-out to make it easier to get in and the
enclosure includes the rear to protect the nitrous tanks. The full
racing harnesses, Hurst ratchet shifter, and a detachable steering
wheel are all part of this professional-grade package. And the dash
is a true command center with AutoMeter readouts, MSD timing, a Nos
progressive nitrous controller, and a massive tach with shift
light.
The full hood lifts off not just for good access but also for
everyone to see. After all, this might be a monster motor, but it
has such a sweet look with the smooth polished walls and all the
major components shining brightly. But what you'll really love is
all the substance behind the style. After all, you instantly spot
the twin Holley four-barrel carburetors that feed the awesome
Mooneyham 871 blower. Plus, there's an awesome big block underneath
with a 501 cubic-inch V8 that has been bored out to 523ci total.
It's a proper setup with aluminum heads, fabricated valve covers,
steel braided lines with AN fittings, and a large aluminum radiator
with electric fans. This professional build knows how to exhale
with authority thanks to big headers feeding the side exhaust. You
know this is a HUGE power machine. That's why the transmission is a
stout TH400 three-speed automatic that has been further reinforced
with Hughes internals. This feeds a Currie 9-inch rear with 4.86
gears for powerful and confident take-offs. The undercarriage is
super clean, and so you can clearly see the custom square tube
steel chassis, tubular A-arm front end, ladder bar rear, adjustable
coilovers, and four-wheel disc brakes.
It's amazing this much power can be offered for quite an obtainable
price. Don't miss out, call today!
