This 1955 MG TF was purchased by the previous owner in 1972 and has
since been fitted with a 1.8-liter B18 inline-four and a four-speed
manual transmission sourced from a Volvo P1800. The car is finished
in green over a green and black interior, and features include a
black soft top, 15? knock-off wire wheels, chrome exterior trim, a
wood steering wheel and dash, and vinyl seating. The dual SU
carburetors were rebuilt in September 2020, and additional work
consisted of replacing the clutch cylinders, brake components, fuel
tank sending unit, and tires. This TF is now offered by the seller
on behalf of his father with an owner's manual, partial service
records, and a clean Nova Scotia title.
The body has reportedly been refinished in its current shade of
green, and exterior features include a black soft top with a
plastic rear window, side mirrors mounted to the front fenders, and
chrome bumpers and exhaust finishers. 15? knock-off wire wheels are
mounted with Michelin XZX tires that were installed in September
2020. A matching spare is mounted out back, and braking is handled
by drums at all four corners. Additional work completed in
September 2020 included fitting a replacement master cylinder,
wheel cylinders, and front brake shoes.
The seats are upholstered in olive green vinyl, and matching
upholstery extends to the dash pad and door panels. A custom walnut
dash insert has been added, and additional appointments include a
wood-rimmed Nardi steering wheel, two dash storage compartments,
and black carpeting. VDO instrumentation includes a replacement
160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline. The
five-digit odometer shows just under 7k miles, approximately 500 of
which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is
unknown. The car is titled in Nova Scotia using engine number 617
shown on the chassis plate that can be found in the gallery.
The replacement 1.8-liter B18 inline-four and four-speed manual
transmission were reportedly sourced from a Volvo P1800. The dual
SU carburetors were rebuilt by Whitney's Classic Automotive of
Bakersfield, California in September 2020, and additional work
completed at that time included cleaning the fuel tank, installing
an electric radiator fan, and replacing the clutch cylinders, fuel
filter, sending unit, and hoses. A radiator overflow tank has also
been fitted. A rear differential from an MGB has also been added.
Additional photos of the underbody are included in the gallery, and
walk-around and driving videos are provided.
