1979 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. Iconic, 60 years + in development,
this original Land Rover is based upon the success of the World War
II Jeep (Ford GPW & Willys MB), its introduction at the 1948
Amsterdam Auto Show set the mold for decades to come. Due to
post-war steel shortage, and aluminum surplus, Land Rovers received
non-rusting aluminum alloy bodies, providing longevity. In 1992,
Land Rover claimed that 70% of all the vehicles were still in use.
Featuring a leaf-spring suspension with selectable two or
four-wheel drive (4WD). Because of its low torque, the Land
Cruisers are perfect for recreational towing trailers or boats,
travelling off-road, and private or commercial transporting of
heavy loads. 3.9-liter Toyota F inline-six, fully synchromesh four
speed gearbox. Floor shifter. 532 yellow paint is in great
condition with nice contrasting white hard top. Good gaps lines and
body fit. 1979 - FJ40 (United States-version) was updated this year
with a new wider, square bezel surrounding the headlights, Power
steering were offered in FJ40 for the first time. Beautiful black
vinyl interior. High back bucket seats with adjustable headrest.
Door panels are black. Heavy duty rubber matting on the floorboard.
Rack mounted convenient spare tire on the back swivels out away
