For Sale: 1967 MG MGB in Saint Louis, Missouri

Vehicle Description

Introduced in September of 1962, the MGB picked up where the MGA left off, which turned out to be an even greater success than its predecessor. The B's crisp, slab-sided styling was simple yet sophisticated, with an overall more upscale and modern appearance. Engineers employed unitary construction for the first time, with the live rear axle supported by leaf springs bolted to the shell and independent front suspension bolted to a separate subframe. The proven setup gave the MGB predictable handling that was more than a match for its 95 horsepower, 1.8-liter inline-four. While the B wasn't notably faster than the A, it was a superior all-rounder. In the first full year of production, MG sold more than 30,000 Bs, representing a whopping 75% increase in output over the MGA. Sales remained healthy for most of the MGB's impressive eighteen-year production run, and it was consistently among the best-selling roadsters in the world. Over the years and through numerous variants, the MGB earned a place as one of the most iconic, widely cherished British roadsters, with over a half-million produced and a loyal following of passionate enthusiasts. Offered here is a superbly restored, highly detailed MGB roadster, benefitting from an outstanding restoration and single long-term ownership in a dry climate. The accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate shows this US-spec car was completed on July 8, 1966, and originally finished in white over black trim and fitted with a grey soft-top. Factory equipment included wire wheels, an ashtray, an MPH speedometer, a heater, a black tonneau cover, and a Packaway hood. Records on file show the car was sold new in Oklahoma, and a chain of documents shows the original owner kept it in her care for 46 years. In 2013, the cherished MG traded hands to the second owner via an Oklahoma specialist dealer. The car's second owner, located in New Mexico, subsequently treated it to a comprehensive, highly detailed restoration, refinishing the car in a beautiful shade of MG-Rover "Trafalgar Blue" over lovely red leather upholstery, with appealing touches including gorgeous 15-inch chrome wire wheels and dual Lucas driving lamps. The paintwork is finished to a standard rarely seen on Bs, which carries over to the boot, under the bonnet, and the undercarriage. Body panels are straight and crisply defined, with consistent shut lines. The chrome and brightwork are also excellent, adding a beautiful pop against the rich blue paint. The cockpit features red leather seat covers, excellent carpets, vinyl door cards, and kick panels. The seats have a pleasing character and broken-in feel from light use. The dash is authentically restored in the correct black wrinkle finish on the fascia with a black vinyl padded top. Gauges are authentic Smiths units, fully restored by the respected specialists at Nisonger Instruments in New York, and a proper banjo steering wheel is fitted. Additionally, there's a black tonneau cover and a new black vinyl top. Per the heritage certificate, this car retains its original 1.8-litre OHV inline-four, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The engine is correctly finished in MG red and fully detailed with authentic hose clamps, hardware, decals, and accessories. Wiring and plumbing are also correctly done, and the whole lot is immaculate. The undercarriage is also finished to a high standard, with fully painted panels, detailed suspension components, and plated hardware used throughout. In most recent ownership, this MGB shared a stable with numerous blue-chip collector vehicles, attesting to the car's exceptional quality and visual appeal. Superb throughout, this eminently charming, collector-quality MG is ready to drive and show with pride.
