For Sale: 1962 Pontiac Star Chief in Atlanta, Georgia
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this remarkably well-preserved
1962 Pontiac Star Chief. This Star Chief was sold new in Atlanta by
Boomershine Pontiac and it has remained in Georgia throughout its
life. Purchased by its second owner in 1983, this car remained
under his care until our 2022 acquisition. The mileage is believed
original with documentation dating to 1970, and this Pontiac
presents and drives as a low-mileage car. Finished in Cameo Ivory
over red interior, the paint is mostly original with some patina
but retaining a shine. Very good floors and rockers with no known
rust issues. The original interior is in excellent condition.
Power comes from the original, numbers-matching Pontiac 389 cubic
inch V8 mated to an automatic transmission; this car is optioned
with power steering, power brakes and AM radio. It was in indoor
storage since the mid-1980s until our purchase last year - it was
stored properly with fluids drained, cylinders oiled and on jack
stands. Recent recommissioning included fuel tank cleaning and
lining, fuel sender, fuel pump, radiator and hoses, new fluids,
complete brake rebuild including master and booster, belts, battery
and new tires.
This Star Chief runs and drives beautifully, making plenty of power
and cruising nearly silently down the road. Original sales invoice
and many service records are included along with original owner's
manual, factory service manuals, PHS documentation and some spare
parts. Rarely have we seen a car from the 1960s with such a
well-preserved original interior. For more information about this
