Vehicle Description
This 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J is pure classic cool with just
the right amount of updates to keep it a fun cruiser. So it
continues to deliver the GP's true mission of a personal coupe with
V8 performance and luxury in equal measures.
Pontiac had a little fun with the nomenclature by borrowing their
upper trim level names from Duesenberg, like on this Model J. This
upper-class feeling is also in the design. That's why you get great
pieces like the stylized chrome grille that integrates into the
front bumpers, a clean padded vinyl roof, and a rear bumper that
looks like an extension of the sheet metal. So they really knew how
to live up to the "Grand" part of the car's name. And someone took
that feeling and turned it up a notch. For example, the paint is a
later upgrade. The quality application of dark gray is the kind of
color that can help set the tone for established luxury. It does a
terrific job of highlighting this long personal luxury coupe's
sharp-edge curves. But there's also a nice metallic element that
loves to pop in the sunlight to give this true cruiser flair. So it
really goes nicely with the upgraded 17-inch Foose polished
alloys.
The black roof is a preview of the full black interior. It's quite
stock and comfortable, right down to the working dome light and
touches of premium wood-like trim. There are a few signs of age and
use, but nothing that truly takes away from the feeling of a
premium vintage cruiser. In fact, there are a few well-placed
upgrades that make it even more fun to take it out on the road. You
have an auxiliary gauge trio under the dash to keep an eye on the
motor, and the AM/FM/CD stereo even has a USB input to plug in your
phone. And speaking of driving, while you have comfortable seating
for up to five in this luxury cruiser, you'll also be just as happy
to be on your own. The bucket seats, grippy three-spoke steering
wheel, center console, and curved dash envelop the driver to remind
you this is a personal luxury coupe.
We love the look of the engine bay where the bright blue block is
radiating from all the clean darkness that surrounds it. Pontiac's
legendary 400 cubic-inch V8 is hard to beat. It's smooth,
versatile, and torque-filled - it easily allows this Grand Prix to
live up to its effortless cruiser image. It inhales deeply with a
four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with a dignified tune out of
an updated H-pipe dual exhaust. On the road, you have all the right
features for an easy-driving classic, including a three-speed
automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, and front
discs. And those upgraded wheels also mean you get the enhanced
grip of a better set of modern tires.
This Grand Prix Model J was born to be a great boulevard machine,
and that feeling is upheld today with a radiant coupe that has a
true cruiser-ready style. This is how you truly enjoy a vintage
premium coupe. Call today!!!
