For Sale: 1986 Jaguar XJ6 in Sarasota, Florida

Vehicle Description

Greetings and thank you for your interest in our 1986 XJ6 Series 3. My partner (who is a well know and arguably the best Jaguar Mechanic in Southwest Florida working mostly on Jaguars from the early 80’s through the XK line) and I purchased this car mid 2002 however only recently titled it for sale.

I have owned 7 XJ6’s, 8 XJS’s and he has worked on hundreds of these cars so there is not much we don’t know about this Jaguar period.  We know what to look for and what to avoid. I’m retired and do this for fun and he does it for the love of the older Jaguars, but he does charge a discounted shop rate for his work on the cars. We concentrate on the machinal side of the cars first and foremost. When we work on a car it is not flipping it is making a wonderful classic into a better car for someone to enjoy and drive. If we can make a few dollars fine but I am really not doing this for the money, trust me there are much easier ways to lose money. We think that the Series 3 XJ6 is one of the most elegant cars ever designed and when sorted properly they are great driving, very reliable and surprisingly affordable for what you get and will certainly go up in value over time. This XJ6 is a very solid example that can be driven and enjoyed for a long time.

When you look at a XJ6 Series 3 from a private party or dealer do you really know what you are getting? We try to be totally transparent with our cars and before we ready a car for sale the cars are checked both mechanically and cosmetically and we perform what is needed. We will not purchase or work on a car with “bad bones” and there are a lot of them out there, frankly most of them we see, and you could be buying one if not careful.

With only 51K miles this XJ6 is a very nice Claret with Biscuit interior. A very striking color combination. The car has an extensive service history and has always been serviced at regular intervals. I have included a picture of some of the past service items. We did a full service on the car and addressed all leaks including the transmission that had not been properly corrected during past attempts. Also, we addressed interior cosmetic items. The tires have very low miles however I would suggest replacing as they are 9 years old. We can help with that if needed.

The interior of this car is where the car really shines. Rarely do we see an XJ6 with such outstanding original wood and the leather interior is exceptional including the smell of the Connolly hides. Everything works as it should except the Jaguar fuel sending units that while functional always seem to read a little lower than the actual fuel level, which is typical.

The exterior paint – well like all Jaguars that had a single stage paint and no clear coat the paint looks amazing from 6 feet and further, it really looks wet. When you get close you will see the typical finish of a 37 year old jaguar paint job that is present on almost all non-repainted older XJ6’s. The car has some minor surface rust that is not noticeable unless you get under the car and in not in any way structural. You will see these places in the videos. There is no rust in the common places on the body including where the front and rear windshields meet the metal, and other normal places. It looks like the car had some paint work on the lower portion of the passenger side doors but it is not noticeable to the untrained eye.

Mechanically – this is one of the better running Jaguars I have driven in a long time. Of the three we currently have this engine is by far the smoothest and the transmission is the same. The AC works and it is ready to be driven. If you are looking for an XJ6 to drive and enjoy for several years this may be the one. If this is not the color combo for you, we do have a second XJ6 VDP close to completion so let me know and I can provide details on that car.

The car comes with two sets of keys, original books/manuals years of service records and has a clean Carfax. The videos were taken on a very windy day, so it is best to turn the volume down/off. All the best and thank you for your time and consideration

Reasonable offers welcomed
