this car.
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful
completely numbers matching 1972 Big Block Corvette Stingray
Convertible in absolutely fantastic condition and with the original
high performance 454ci LS5 engine and only 39,445 original miles.
The car is finished in the beautiful and highly desirable color
combination of Mille Miglia Red (989) over Black Leather (404).
This iconic color combination is highly desirable, truly striking,
and looks great on this Corvette shark body style. This is also the
correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the
trim tag. This Stingray comes with a wealth of documentation
including the original "Protect-O-Plate," original owner's manual,
Chevrolet Consumer Information Booklet, 1972 Chevrolet Emission
Systems book, Warranty booklet, Wheel Trim Ring Instruction Sheet,
a couple service records dating back to 1972, a Bill of Sale from
1999 when the original owner sold the car, and an appraisal from
2000 showing the car had 32,000 miles at that time, which is
another great verification of the very low original mileage.
Besides the correct paint and trim codes, this Corvette is "Numbers
Matching" meaning the engine and transmission in the car are the
correct and original units that were installed in the car new at
the factory in November of 1971. Even very detailed parts like the
intake, distributor, and even all of the window glass is all date
coded and original. The last six digits of the VIN, 506360, are
stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured in this ad, and the
engine is original to the car and pictured in this ad. The
transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN
stamped on the main case and pictured.
This car is verified as an original 454ci LS5 in a number of ways.
First, the original "Protect-O-Plate" that verifies all the
options. Additionally, on the engine pad is stamped "CSS." This
suffix code denotes an LS5 with an automatic transmission. The car
is also confirmed as an original and authentic LS5 by the fifth
digit of the VIN. In 1972 only the big block LS5 Corvettes with
have an "W" in this spot like this car does, a base motor Corvettes
will always have an "K" in the fifth digit of the VIN and an LT1
will have an "L."
We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent
opportunity to own a very desirable big block Corvette Stingray
convertible at an unbeatable value. The big block and convertible
body style draw a great premium over the standard small block and
coupe body styles. One could easily buy this car now and sell it
for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on
C3 "chrome bumper" Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red
hot right now and on the rise. The low mileage is verified not only
by the condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title which
shows the mileage as "Actual." Please peruse all of the photos,
video, list of numbers, and other information below to get a true
sense of how nice this Corvette really is.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come
from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give
the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
Corvette, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Mille Miglia Red (989) exterior is in excellent condition for
its age. As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling
gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. All four factory bonding
strips on all four fenders appears to be in place and intact, which
would indicate that this Corvette has a no-hit body and has never
been in an accident. The chrome looks great with no pitting. The
soft top is in terrific condition with no rips, holes, or frayed
edges. The rear window is clear and not foggy or yellowed. The
rally wheels and center caps are in fantastic condition with a
brilliant finish and no curb rash. Please note that this car still
has the original 4-clip style beauty rings, not the cheaper foreign
made replacements. The Goodyear Eagle raised white letter tires
have plenty of treat left and are correctly sized 225/70R15. There
are no major blemishes that have been intentionally excluded from
the photos. As to be expected from a paintjob with this many years
on there is some checking visible and other tiny imperfections
around car that were too faint to show up in pictures, but nothing
else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As
one can see in the many photos of the underside this car is very
clean underneath and has no rust issues. The frame is totally solid
around the "key hole" area in front of the rear tire and we have
seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield or "birdcage"
area, which is the most common spots for rust on a C3 Corvette. We
have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust to
show how nice this car looks.
Window Date Codes
Please note that ALL of the glass on this Corvette, both "Astro
Ventilation" door windows and the windshield are all date coded and
original as each piece predates the car's body build date of
November 2, 1971 (D02). Original glass is another good indication
that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained
significant damage.
Interior
The Black Leather (404) interior of the Corvette is in outstanding
condition. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are
clear. The carpet is also in excellent condition with no stains,
rips, or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often
neglected. The seats are in excellent shape with no holes or
excessive wear. There is just the minimal amount of wear in the
typical spot on the bolster where the driver gets in and out and a
place on the left headrest where the thread is starting to stretch.
Please note that these appear to be the original seats and skins,
not some cheap aftermarket covers or replacements. The radio works
well and gets good reception. Please note that the car has a
Corvette specific radio made for this car so most importantly the
dash has never been cut or modified for the installation. The door
panels are in nice shape overall. The dash and console are in great
shape with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. Both seat belts work
and retract properly. This is a common problem on C3 Corvettes and
an issue many buyers do not think to check. This Corvette has never
been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of
cigarettes. The jack and jack handle are still with the car, stored
correctly in the compartment behind the passenger seat. The spare
is also still with the car.
Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well,
especially for a convertible, and the excellent condition of this
interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention
this car has received throughout its life and another great
verification of the very low original mileage.
Mechanical
This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. The
original numbers matching 454ci LS5 engine runs well and idles
smooth. The car drives great and feels nice on the road and at
highway speeds. In th...for more information please contact the
