1977 Land Rover Series I in Amelia Island, Florida
What remaining a clear favorite among many off-road enthusiasts to
this day, the charming Series I was first released by Land Rover in
1948 and remained in continuous production for nearly 40 years.
Taking inspiration from the robust World War II era Jeeps, Land
Rover would offer a sturdy box-welded frame and crucial to the
longevity of these machines, non-rusting aluminum alloy bodies.
This dependability would be put to the test as Series model Land
Rovers faithfully served its customers in many different civilian
and military applications. Implementing small exterior changes, the
Series III was released in 1971 and was the final iteration of this
iconic off-road vehicle.
Powered by a 2.25-liter inline four-cylinder engine, the Series III
would offer many performance upgrades which provide a smoother
driving experience like full synchromesh on all gears and increased
compression. Equipped with a four-speed manual transmission with
overdrive, this Land Rover features four-wheel drive high-low
range. Additional features include upgraded Wolf-style aluminum
wheels with BF Goodrich All-terrain tires and a hood mounted
spare-tire.
Finished in Pastel Green, this Series III 88 comes with a front
bench seat trimmed in black leather upholstery and cloth trim for
the two side-facing rear bench seats. A convertible soft-top with
roll-up side curtain windows allows for open-air enjoyment for up
to seven passengers. Showing some signs of typical use over the
years, this Land Rover is offered with an appropriate level of
patina which allows for the next owner to use this vehicle as it
was intended.
