Vehicle Description
1978 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible - 1585cc 4 Cylinder - 4 Speed
Manual Transmission - 58k Miles Shown - White Exterior With White
Convertible Top - White and Black Interior - Empi Wheels The easily
recognizable lines and curves of the Beetle always made it stand
out among other vehicles on the road. In 1978, the Beetle shared VW
showrooms with Dashers, Sciroccos, Rabbits, and Type 2 Vans. It
didn't quite fit the mold of the rest of the lineup, though
Volkswagen was proud of the Beetle, and continued to make design
changes. Options which lined up better with what buyers could get
in other cars at the time were worked in. More options or not, the
Beetle is still a charming car that puts a smile on the faces of
drivers, passengers, and other folks on the road. The car you see
here is a 1978 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible finished in white over
a white interior, and capped with a white convertible top. This
Beetle convertible is finished in the same specs as the Champagne
II Special Edition with its triple white color scheme and burled
elm faux-wood dashboard trim. We cannot prove it, but it sure looks
like a Champagne II Edition. The car left the factory finished in
Alpine White, but it looks to have been repainted at some point
since it rolled out of the Osnabrück Factory. The paint shows well
with nice gloss and depth, although the running boards on both
sides look a little tired. Chrome bumpers front and rear are in
great condition including the rubber trim and bumper caps. Empi
wheels add some design interest, and chrome pea-shooter tailpipes
round out the exterior look. The interior is a familiar place for
those who have examined a Beetle before. With some more elbow
grease, the front seats could be cleaned up a little further,
though they are in good physical condition as they have no rips or
tears. An aftermarket JVC stereo is mounted at the center of the
dash, surrounded by burled elm faux-wood trim, which again was
something that came on the Champagne and Champagne II Beetles. The
single gauge on the dash houses the speedometer, fuel gauge, and a
5-digit odometer which currently shows 58,665 miles. At the rear of
the car is a 1585cc flat-4 engine, which is fuel injected. A
4-speed manual transmission handles gear selection. This
triple-white Beetle convertible is a great car for top down, sunny
day cruising. Please call if you are interested in the vehicle or
