One of the most iconic customs: a 50 Merc! This is a slick example
that makes a great cruiser. 4 passengers can ride in comfort and
style.
EXTERIOR: The body has been shaved, nosed, and decked. Meaning the
trim, handles, locks have been removed and filled for a clean look.
The front doors open by remote; the rear suicide doors open by the
inside handles. The hood is louvered, and the front corners are
rounded. It has frenched halogen headlights and turn signals,
frenched 1951 Ford taillights and frenched power antenna. The body
is straight and has no significant rust or damage. The black paint
is glossy! There are flaws if you look for them. It has custom
mirrors, dummy spotlights and skirts. The bumpers and grill are in
very nice shape. Coker radial wide white tires still have the nubs
on the tread. 50s style custom hubcaps. The glass is tinted, it has
wing windows on all 4 doors.
INTERIOR: Recently professionally redone interior by Classic
Stitches. Snowstorm white material on the doors and seats. They
have a diamond stitch pattern and black trim. The front seats have
firm cushions, armrests and are genuine soft leather. New black
headliner. There is a custom console on the floor with cup holders
and a tall Lokar shifter. The tilt column has a cushion grip wheel
and a tachometer. The a/c controls and vents are neatly installed
under the dash. The Pioneer stereo sends tunes to speakers mounted
in each door.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Rebuilt 350 with a mild cam, Edelbrock intake
and carb, HEI ignition. It's dressed up with Edelbrock air cleaner
and valve covers. Vintage Air heat and a/c system. New 2 speed
electric wiper kit. It features power steering and brakes. Upgraded
radiator with a polished overflow bottle, electric fan, and engine
fan. The engine bay is gloss black. Overall, the components look
orderly.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It has a power trunk release. It has been
carpeted. The battery is relocated in the trunk. LED trunk
light.
UNDERSIDE: Upfront it has a Nova front clip. Upper ball joints,
springs, shocks, swaybar links, inner and outer tie rods and
sleeves, idler arm and pittman arm were replaced. In back it has
lowering blocks and air shocks. The fuel tank has been replaced. It
has a nice sounding dual exhaust system with Hooker mufflers and
big stainless tips. Looking up at the engine it's immaculate Chevy
Orange, the starter looks new, and it has a chrome flywheel cover.
The Turbo 350 automatic was rebuilt with a shift kit and has a
chrome pan. In back is a 10 bolt rear end 3.08 cruising gears. The
floors appear to be rock solid all original condition.
SERVICE: Our shop inspected the car and spent $2,859. We replaced
the fuel sending unit, replaced a heater lever, replace driver's
door glass, tightened mirror, eliminated exhaust rattle, had paint
work done.
Here is an opportunity to own a 50 Merc custom at an affordable
price. It will turn heads with the best of them!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to
assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are
answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video
that explains the car's condition in detail. **These cars are
displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an
appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment
there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car,
your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year
membership.
