Vehicle Description
Taking a step inside this car is about as close as you can get to
stepping back into 1972. On the showroom floor now is this
astonishing 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu, a true survivor of a
car with under 18,000 original miles on the odometer. The previous
owner stated that he bought the car from a man who inherited it
from his grandparents and owned it for over 25 years. Over the
course of that time, he put only 400 miles on it, an average of
only 16 miles a year! The grandparents were the original owners of
the car, having bought it new. Additionally, the car is believed to
have always been stored inside, further preserving the original
steel. When the previous owner bought this Chevelle, it appeared to
still have the original tires on it! Powered by an original, base
307 C.I. V8 breathing through a 2-barrel carburetor, this Malibu
has all the power it needs to get up and moving. Torque from that
307 gets to the rear end through a 3-speed automatic transmission,
shifting smoothly and effortlessly. In completely unrestored
condition and wearing the original paint, the "Sequioa Green" color
may look a little rough around the edges, but overall, it's in
pretty decent shape. What's in more than decent shape, however, is
the interior. The interior is in spectacular condition, unrestored
and almost completely original. The green vinyl bench seats are
very comfortable, and even the original "FASTEN SEAT BELTS" buzzer
still works! Options on this '72 Malibu include a heater +
defroster, a working factory AM pushbutton radio, seatbelts, and a
single exhaust system. This is a base-model Chevelle Malibu, which
makes it even more amazing how someone thought to preserve it as
well as they did! The car rides on stock Chevelle steel wheels
complimented by Chevrolet dog-dish hubcaps over some Kumho "Solus"
blackwall tires. What you get with this old Chevelle is as close to
a time machine as money can buy, and it's ready to fire up at a
moment's notice. It's a very special car, and it's looking for a
new owner to take care of it just as nicely as it has been
throughout its life.
