Some History
1980 marked the last year for the popular MGB Roadster. To commemorate the last year of production and the popularity of the “B” Roadster, British Leyland introduced a Limited Edition for the U.S. in all black with special and unique features. The Limited Edition came equipped with a front air dam spoiler, special Limited Edition 5-spoke alloy wheels, silver lower body stripes, and a luggage rack. Additionally, a Limited Edition dash plaque is installed on the glove box. A total of 6,668 Limited Edition MGB models, all finished black, were produced from 1979-80
Our Offering
A recently serviced 1980 version that runs and drives although could use some enhancements and repairs.
97,715 miles powered by the original 1,798cc, 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission w/overdrive. The powertrain just had a full carb rebuild and tune, a new cap & rotor, new transmission mounts, a new master cylinder and clutch fluid change. The exhaust is in need of service and the clutch is starting to slip at higher RPMs (a new clutch kit is included for installation by the next owner).
On the inside; the dash, door panels, carpet, center console, and driver's seat are in good condition. The passenger side seat base has multiple seam separations. All gauges, wipers, lights, heater fan, and vents work as they should. Windows roll easily and the windshield is clear and in good condition. A Pioneer stereo is installed with homemade speaker boxes designed to fit in the rear cargo area. The factory radio is no longer with the car.
Outside, the black paint still retains much of its sheen but is in need of a good buffing to remove some light swirls and fading. The silver limited edition decals are all intact. The rubber bumpers are faded in spots and the front air dam is intact with no cracks. Brightwork shines well.
The black vinyl convertible top is in almost-new condition with clear windows and no rips or holes. It fits snugly at all the attachment points with the rear window designed to be unzipped and removed if desired. A black convertible cover boot is included plus a storage case.
The 14-inch alloy wheels ride on a matching set of 175/70R14 tires with plenty of tread, including a spare with a jack and tools. In addition, the car includes a full set of chrome wire wheel covers that can be installed for a more classic MG look.
This classic MGB (with some TLC) would make a great running and driving project. Extremely fun to drive, easy to work on, parts readily available, and one of the last of its breed. Clean PA title and ready to go! The owner is open to offers and motivated to sell.
